“Research – Innovate”: Start of submission of funding applications to the Action of Strategic Importance of the “Competitiveness” Program
The submission of online funding applications for all Interventions of the Action of Strategic Importance “RESEARCH – INNOVATE” of the Program ““Competitiveness” (NSRF 2021 – 2027“.
The Action aims to connect research and innovation with entrepreneurship and to strengthen the competitiveness, productivity and extroversion of enterprises to international markets, with the aim of transitioning to quality innovative entrepreneurship and increasing domestic added value.
Beneficiaries of the Action are:
a) Enterprises and “Other entities treated as enterprises” and
b) Research organizations and “Other entities treated as research organizations”
For their participation in the Action, businesses must have at least one (1) closed full (annual) management year (businesses of Intervention IV are excluded from the condition), be legally incorporated and operate with headquarters in Greece or another State – Member of the European Union, either as legal entities (e.g. SA, LLC, OE, EE, IKE, CoinSEp), or as sole proprietorships.
The funding application must be submitted online through the Integrated Information System for State Aid Management (OPSKE).
The Action is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union through the Competitiveness Program (NSRF 2021-2027) and is implemented by the Special Service for the Management and Implementation of Actions in the Research and Innovation Sectors (EYDE EK).

Funding applications can be submitted by individual SMEs, groups of businesses or partnerships of businesses with research organizations. Applications must be included in one of the four interventions:
- Research and Development by Businesses: Budget of 60 million euros
- Business Partnerships with Research Organizations: Budget of 180 million euros
- Utilization of Research Results: Budget 39 million euros
- Seal of Excellence for businesses: Budget 21 million euros
“Research – Innovate” focuses on specific strategic intervention areas (priorities) which were defined in the National Smart Specialization Strategy (ESEE) 2021-2027 which connects research and innovation with entrepreneurship. The applications will concern the eight areas of ESEE:
1. Materials, Construction & Industry: Budget 20 million euros
2. Tourism, Culture & Creative Industries: Budget 41 million euros
3. Agri-Food Chain: Budget 54 million euros
4. Environment & Circular Economy: Budget 33 million euros
5. Life Sciences, Health, Medicines: Budget €59 million
6. Transportation & Supply Chain: Budget of 18 million euros
7. Sustainable Energy: Budget 23 million euros
8. Digital Technologies: Budget 52 million euros
