Green Business

The programme

The Green Business Programme is a sub-initiative of the Ministry of Economy, Competitiveness and Shipping (The general objective of the Programme is to create the conditions for the integration of the environmental dimension in the operation of enterprises in order to make interventions in the production chain process.

Who it concerns

• The Green Businessprogramme   is addressed to Existing businesses that are active in Greece in the sectors of manufacturing and services which act in support of them.
• All types of small and micro enterprises are considered eligible. For this program, existing businesses are defined as those that have completed three (3) full twelve-month fiscal years.

Program budget 

The programme is financed with a total amount of 30.000.000,00€ (Public Expenditure) from the following operational programmes:

• An amount of 21.180.000,00€ from the Operational Programme "Competitiveness and Entrepreneurship" approved by the Commission Decision No. C(2007) 5338/26-10-2007 Decision approving Community assistance from the ERDF under the Convergence Objective for the eight regions of Greece.
• An amount of 3.300.000,00€ from the Attica Operational Programme approved by decision no. C(2007) 5443/5-11-2007 Decision approving Community assistance from the ERDF.
• An amount of 1.500.000,00€ from the Operational Programme Macedonia-Thrace (Central Macedonia) approved by decision no. C(2007) 5337 /26-10-2007 Decision approving Community assistance from the ERDF.
• An amount of 900.000,00€ from the Operational Programme Macedonia-Thrace (West Macedonia) approved by the decision no. C(2007) 5337 /26-10-2007 Decision approving Community assistance from the ERDF.
• An amount of 2.820.000,00€ from the Operational Programme Thessaly-Sterea Ellada-Epiros (Sterea Ellada) approved by the decision no. C(2007) 5332/26-10-2007 Decision approving Community assistance from the ERDF (CC1 GR161UPO001).
• An amount of 300.000,00€ from the Operational Programme for Crete and the Aegean Islands (South Aegean) approved by the Operational Programme for Crete and the Aegean Islands (South Aegean) No. C(2007) 5439/5-11-2007 Decision approving Community assistance from the ERDF.

Amount of subsidy

The amount of subsidy ranges from €15,000 to €200,000.

The funding covers 40% of the eligible costs and is increased by 10%, reaching 50% in the case of recruitment of new staff.

Expenses subsidized

• Design of buildings and premises
• Supply of machinery, computer equipment and quality control equipment
• Purchase of means of transport (other than passenger cars)
• Supply of software
• Certification of management systems-verification, validation of environmental management systems.
• ∆Cost of testing and verification by laboratories
• Purchase of know-how (intangible investments)
• Consultancy and other services and activities

• Submission period from 25 May 2010 until 18 June 2010

Necessary supporting documents for submission

The necessary documents for the Green Business programme are the following:

• Balance sheets and profit and loss accounts (only for those undertakings which are obliged to prepare them) for the calendar years 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 (financial years 20077, 2008, 2009, 2010).
• Tax returns and detailed tax information E3, E5 (depending on the form of the company), F01 (only for limited liability companies) for the calendar years 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 (financial years 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010).
• A copy of the last articles of association of the company with its amendments (for B and C category sole proprietorships, a certificate of commencement of business with its amendments).
• Final Statement of Settlement of the amounts of tax, stamp duty and OGA contribution due on income from salaried services (Form E7), which must be submitted once a year, for the calendar years 2007, 2008 and 2009.
• ∆Declaration of change of activity from the competent D.O.Y. which will only include the assignment of the old activity codes to the new ones (i.e. from K.A.D. 97 to K.A.D. 08) without any other change in the register details of the liable person
• Licence or legal exemption from the obligation to operate the business.
