I save for business: 3 new programs are coming – What will be the eligible interventions

The energy upgrade subsidy programs of companies are just around the corner and expected to start activating by the beginning of February. This is the triple action “Save-Business”, “Switch device for business” and “Photovoltaic and storage systems for business” which will start running gradually with the first two to start and the program for photovoltaics to follow. All three programs include subsidies totaling 450 million euros from the Recovery Fund and are the next step of the government in the implementation of a multi-level energy upgrade program which started with the “Save” for households, continued with the corresponding program for public buildings (“ELEKTRA“) and now focuses on businesses, an initiative that was announced a year and a half ago but the relevant platform has not yet been opened.

The program guide and MOU have been published for some time and now the system functions are being “buttoned up” to be ready to accept applications. As planned, out of the total 450 million euros, 200 will be allocated in the first phase to the “Save-Business” program, and specifically 100 million will be directed to the trade and services and 100 million to the branch of tourism.

“Save-Business”

The “Save-Enterprise” is aimed at very small businesses (which employ less than 10 employees and whose annual turnover does not exceed 2 million euros), in medium-sized enterprises (which employ less than 250 employees and whose turnover does not exceed 50 million euros).

Specifically, the amount of support varies according to the sector, with the trade and service sectors being able to apply for support for projects with a total investment budget of up to 100,000 euros, while for the tourism sector projects with a total investment budget of 50,000 euros to 500,000 euros are supported (the capacity of unit should be up to 100 beds).

The program will cover energy upgrades of buildings, energy upgrades of production processes, heat recovery systems within production processes, installation of “smart” energy systems, electric distribution vehicles etc. Small and large businesses such as are bakeries, patisseries, micro-brewers but also larger consumers, while Eligible for a subsidy will be the goal is to implement the specific investments to be completed by December 31, 2025 (with the possibility of extension).

For each project that will receive a subsidy, a reduction of emitted pollutants (CO2) by at least 35%, saving of primary energy by at least 35% and upgrading the energy category based on PEA by at least three energy classes in relation to the existing classification (or mandatory B’ class in the case of radical renovation) must be achieved.

Recycle – Change Device for Business

The second program expected to be announced is the “Recycle-Change device” for businesses with a total budget of 190,000,000 euros (90,000,000 euros will come from the Recovery Fund and 100,000,000 euros from private participation). It will operate according to the model of the corresponding program that ran for private individuals and the subsidy for businesses to install energy-efficient equipment (heating, cooling, etc.) will range from 30% to 50%.

“Photovoltaic and storage systems for business”

Finally, the third part of the financing of businesses for the energy upgrade concerns the program “Photovoltaics and storage systems for businesses” with a budget of 160 million euros. The action will enable companies and industries to produce the energy they consume and visibly reduce energy costs. The aim is for the businesses that will receive the subsidy to reduce at least 35% the electricity they consume from the grid and at least by 30% their emissions.
