Apps4Athens: Innovation marathon focusing on the digital transformation of Athens
The Municipality of Athens will proceed with the organization of the first Apps4Athens Hackathon Innovation Marathon, focusing on the digital transformation of Athens and cities in general.
The action is implemented by DAEM, the Anonymous Development Company for Computerization and Business Units of OTA of the Municipality of Athens, the oldest company developing information systems and infrastructure in Local Government. It will be held on March 30 and 31 in Serafio and participants will have the opportunity to create smart solutions, which will contribute to the development of cities and the necessary skills to face challenges, through technology.
The Apps4Athens Hackathon Innovation Marathon is an open call for cooperation with the innovation community and entrepreneurship and is addressed to every participant who has ideas and proposals for applications and services, which will support the participatory strategy of the municipality to develop innovative solutions in important and critical sectors. Indicative thematic sections concern:
- in everyday life and the environment
- recycling, energy management
- the education
- the promotion of volunteering
- the protection of vulnerable groups
- the tourism and culture
- the smart city infrastructures
- the promotion of participation and transparency
- the interconnection of citizens
During the Apps4Athens Hackathon Innovation Marathon, participants will have the opportunity to develop and present proposals and applications that will strengthen the digital presence of Athens, solving problems and improving the quality of life of citizens.
In particular, they can participate as contestants startup companies, engineers, programmers, economists, analysts, researchers, students and in general anyone who has an idea related to the thematic modules of the Marathon and is interested in developing it into an integrated application. For the groups that will be distinguished, there will be symbolic monetary prizes and possibilities for the development of the applications in cooperation with the municipality and with economic and social bodies.
Through this initiative, the municipality of Athens seeks to create an ecosystem of innovation and collaboration, inviting all stakeholders to participate and contribute to the development of a more humane, resilient and digitally advanced city.
