Women’s Entrepreneurship: Representation in senior management positions is strengthened

According to the global survey of Grant Thornton Women in Business 2022: Highlighting Diversity", the proportion of women in senior management positions worldwide has increased to 32%, up from 31% the previous year.previous year. Creating an environment where people can freely express their ideas, concerns and questions also remains high on the list of relevant actions, with the participation of companies amounting to 44%.

The main findings of the Women's Business Survey: Strengthening representation in senior management positions

  • Women hold 32% of senior management positions in businesses worldwide. This is an increase of 1 percentage point on the previous year.
  • The proportion of women in senior management positions exceeded 30% in all geographical areas. The highest percentages are recorded in Africa (40%) and Southeast Asia (37%).
  • 37% of businesses worldwide have a woman in the position of Chief Finance Officer (CFO). This is an increase of 1 percentage point on the previous year. Compared to the 2021 findings, the number of female Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) fell by 2 percentage points, to 24%. The percentage of female Chief Operating Officers (COOs) remained stable at 23%.
  • The percentage of women in senior HR management positions worldwide increased by 1 percentage point compared to 2021, to 39%. It remains the position with the highest percentage of female representation.

How women's entrepreneurship is shaped in Greece

In Greece, the share of women in senior management positions fell by 5 percentage points in 2022. It stood at 28% compared to 33% in 2021. However, it remains the second highest level since 2014. At the same time, the proportion of enterprises that do not employ any women in a senior management position increased to 22% compared to 13% the previous year.

  • creating an environment where all employees can openly express their ideas and concerns (27%)
  • the promotion of new working practices for the best possible engagement of employees (24%)
