EKDDA Gov 5.0 Hackathon: Marathon for the digital transformation of the public sector

. EKDDA Gov 5.0 Innovation Marathon Hackathon is a technological action of open innovation and aims to Community activation of the innovation ecosystem, institutions and businesses, as well as local government executives to create original apps that promote digital transformation of the institutions of Public Administration and Local Government as well as the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government (ESDC) through new and innovative ideas and applications with social impact (social impact).

The EKDDA Gov 5.0 Hackathon, will take place on February 19-20, 2022, hybrid, with physical presence at EKDDA (Piraeus 211, Tavros), but also remotely with videoconferencing tools

The action is part of a roadmap of open innovation of EKDDA with a social orientation through the promotion of new developing technologies (disrupting technologies) such as AI, IoT, big data, blockchain, image analysis, etc.

Objective of the ESDA Gov 5.0 Hackathon

Aim of the Innovation Marathon EKDDA Gov 5.0 Hackathon is creating of original applications for the needs of bodies of Public Administration and Local Government as well as the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government (EKDDA) with the activation of a spirit of innovation and cooperation between institutions and businesses that have new innovative ideas and applications with social impact and, at the same time, promote the digital transformation of services.

Through the action, the creative human capital of the innovation ecosystem is mobilized, creation and youth entrepreneurship are strengthened, as well as collaborations, the experience and know-how of the executives of the institutions is utilized and innovation is promoted.

As part of its action EKDDA Gov 5.0 Hackathon can participate new developers, analysts, students, startup companies and in general, anyone who has an idea on issues related to the fields of activity of EKDDA and is interested in developing and presenting it in a pilot application during the two-day period.

The EKDDA Gov 5.0 Hackathon has the following key broader social and long-term goals:

  • Creating a culture of innovation and partnerships
  • Support for youth and innovative entrepreneurship, opportunities for young people, fight against unemployment
  • Supporting the local economy, as contestants from all over Greece will be able to participate
  • Highlighting smart and innovative solutions and the challenges created around applications related to the operation of public administration and local government
  • Improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of bodies cooperating with public administrations
  • Interconnection with the technological innovation and entrepreneurship community of our country
  • Creation of an innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in actions related to the modernization of public administration

Indicative Thematic Areas

Α. Local authorities and exploitation of Open Data

  • The reduction of waiting times for access to the service
  • Maximizing the satisfaction of citizens' demands. Aim for one visit to complete the request
  • Enhancing the efficiency of administrative services, reducing bureaucratic constraints and processing more cases per unit of time
  • The optimal management of human resources through education and lifelong learning. The better recording and evaluation of the work of the services if it will be possible to apply quantitative and qualitative indicators
  • The improvement of the working conditions of the staff of the Municipalities, since the applications that will be created will allow them to perform their duties with greater completeness and a smaller number of required actions

B Innovative Ideas for Digital Transformation of EKDDA

  • Development of mobile apps for ESDDA students and INEP trainees
  • Tool for the evaluation of candidates for inclusion in the Register of Main Teaching Staff
  • Tool for selecting candidates for training of IGC executives for participation in training programs
  • Matching a scientific profile of trainers with educational needs
  • Utilization of machine learning for career counseling of ESDDA graduates (the right executive in the right position)
  • Tool for creating data repositories as a prerequisite for creating & leveraging big data analytics and artificial intelligence
  • Tool for monitoring the maturation and development of training activities
