Cash registers – POS: End of tax evasion in catering – New cash registers from August 1st
End to tax evasion practices in taverns, restaurants, ouzo and mezedos with mechanisms that do not record tables and orders and order slips which are then cancelled without issuing receipts and turnover is deleted from AADE is trying to put the with the new tax mechanisms that they will have to use from Thursday August 1st companies in focus.
Almost all taverns, restaurants, ouzouri, beer bars and any shops that serve meals or food at the table should operate with the new type mechanisms (FIMAS or FTM or ADIME Restaurant) or, alternatively, sign a contract with Electronic Invoicing Service Provider.
From this obligation are exempted catering businesses, which exercise their activity in settlements with a population of up to 500 inhabitants and on islands with a population of less than 3,100 inhabitants, according to the latest census, except for places considered as tourist.
With the mandatory use of new tax mechanisms for catering businesses that accept orders the receipt is printed only by a built-in printer, pending orders (“open” tables) and pending receipts to be issued are recorded in the tax memory while “Z” is issued if all open tables are closed.
Freelancers – IRIS
On the interconnection front of freelancer business accounts with the direct payment system IRIS, data shows that rates slowed down after the announcement of an extension until August 31, 2024. Just 15,000 freelancers were added in July to the IRIS system, reaching 357,000 out of a total of 800,000 debtors. Between June 25-28, daily registrations reached 6,000. The rate dropped below 1,000 per day in July, with registrations last Thursday at just 409.
The deadline for connecting the professional accounts of 800,000 self-employed and self-employed people with the IRIS system expires on August 31, 2024 and the Ministry of National Economy and Finance declares that no extension will be granted. This means that about 460,000 freelancers, or more than 1 in 2 debtors, will have to connect to the system in August to avoid being faced with a 1,500 euro fine. With a €1,000 “bell” those who do not declare their professional account are also at risk.
