The employment support programme, SYN-ERGASIA, is extended until 31 March 2022. This is a joint decision of the ministers Finance , Development and Investment , Labour and Social Affairs , Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy , the Deputy Minister of Finance and the Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Affairs.
SYN-COOP - January-March 2022
For the period January-March 2022, employees who have a dependent, full-time employment relationship on 31 October 2021 (whose data are taken from the PES ERGANI ). They must be employed in enterprises that meet the financial data set out in the decision. These figures must be the same as for the period October-December 2021.
The SYN-ERGASIA programme is running from June 2020. It has become an important tool to support employment during the pandemic period. According to the announcement of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, it boosted the income of workers. At the same time, it relieved businesses of a significant part of the wage bill.
According to the latest available data, for SYN-ERGASIA:
- More than EUR 150 million has been spent so far. euros
- in November, about 30,000 employees were included in the mechanism
Regarding the operation of the program, it is reminded that the employer can limit the time of a full-time employee by up to 50%. And this can be done without changing the employment relationship. For the time that the employee does not work, the state budget supports the employee himself, covering 60% of the remuneration (up to a certain amount) corresponding to this period. As long as the employee is included in the SYN-ERGASIA programme, the employer is not allowed to terminate the employment contract.
Holiday allowance
Note that for the employees private sector employees who have joined the employment support mechanism SYN-ERGASIA in 2021 will be paid in mid-January 2022 a proportion of the holiday allowance. The calculation will be made on the financial support for short-term work.
