Exemption from the trade fee for artists and craftsmen and subsidy of their turnover are provided for in the provisions with the support measures voted by the Greek Parliament. The aim is to support professionals in the sector affected by the economic crisis.

The aim is to motivate art and culture professionals and craftsmen. Incentives to either reactivate professionally or maintain their professional activity.

Specifically, artists, craftsmen and more broadly self-employed, employed culture, who will restart their professional activity, which they have ceased due to the economic crisis, are exempted for the years 2022, 2023 and 2024 from the Obligation to pay the annual trade fee of EUR 650. In addition, it is provided for the same period of time the total subsidy up to the amount of 5,000 euros of turnover. This concerns the first 3,100 professionals to resume activity.

For artists and craftsmen, who are still professionally active, the annual trade fee they will be required to pay is reduced. It will be reduced from EUR 650 to EUR 400. This will apply starting from the tax year 2022 and for a period of three years. The actions, amounting to 28,000,000 euros, are part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan "Greece 2.0". They are financed by the Recovery Fund, as well as by the state budget.

At the Ministry of Culture and Sports, we designed measures that substantially support professionals of contemporary creation and craftsmen. Contemporary artistic creation and crafts must to have a creative future. Be a means of expression and livelihood for their representatives. Our goal is to restart the sectors in a way that ensures the sustainability of their activities. Through support initiatives, such as those that have just been institutionalised, and which are the beginning, we can be optimistic that the sector will recover. Indicatively, I would like to mention that artists and craftsmen, who will restart their activities in the next 12 months, will not be obliged to pay a trade fee for the period 2022-2024. Our priority is to give cultural professionals the opportunity to continue to express themselves creatively through their work."
