Costas Skrekas, Minister of Environment and Energy

"The prime minister announced to the TIF the government's comprehensive plan for the new housing policy, "My house!". In implementation of this announcement, we are putting in motion the " Save - Renovate for Youth" programme, with budget of 350 million euros, giving the appropriate financial incentives to young people from 18-39 years old, in order to upgrade their homes energy-wise and renovate them. We create the necessary framework so that our young people to reduce energy costs in their home, with targeted energy interventions, and to acquire a modern residence, which is condition for a better quality of life. We stand by the young people who are starting their lives and provide solutions to the practical problems they face, at a difficult time, in the midst of the energy crisis".

Alexandra Sdoukou, Secretary General for Energy and Mineral Resources

"As of today, the "family" of Execonomo programs is growing. As part of the government initiative "My Home!" we present today the new action Save money - Renovate for Young People enabling young people aged between 18 and 39 to not only to upgrade their home energetically but also to renovate, aiming for an integrated result, with the aim of improving the quality of life and the low environmental footprint.

Like the previous programs, this one has a special social character. That is why we subsidize with an additional 15% the eligible interventions in the very small areas, taking into account the particular difficulties that exist. The Save - Renovate for Youth reflects the further broadening of the scope of energy efficiency programmes for buildings beyond the main residential and public buildings. It follows the pre-publication of the Economo-Enterprise Guide, which focuses on small and medium-sized enterprises in services, commerce and tourism. And our effort on the energy conservation front continues on many levels, as it is a key tool to reduce energy costs while tackling climate change."
