The Region of Evros has issued clarifications on the procedure of declaration - registration and subsidies for businesses and farms affected by the fires.

According to this announcement, businesses and farms affected by the fires are being subsidised by the State Relief Directorate of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection.

The Region is competent to set up committees to record damage caused:

• to businesses
• in industrial and craft plants,
• commercial establishments and agricultural holdings, i.e. agricultural holdings and livestock farms, (with the exception of damage to plant and livestock capital and crop production),

carrying out a legal economic activity, regardless of their form, including sole proprietorships, freelancers, and non-profit organisations.

After the delimitation of the area as fire-affected, the Region sends the necessary documents to the Ministry, which proceeds to check them and pays the beneficiaries the grant.

What is covered by the grant for affected businesses and farms in the region of Evros

The grant covers material damage caused by the fire to assets such as:

• Equipment
• raw materials
• merchandise
• lorries for public and private use, as well as commercial vehicles
• means of production, including land capital and stored products, which were recorded as damaged

Building damage is not eligible for State Aid. For building damage to businesses, those affected should apply to the Directorate of Natural Disaster Rehabilitation of Northern Greece, 28 Navarinou Street, Kalamaria, Thessaloniki. The damage survey committee of the Regional Unit of Evros for the businesses (commercial) of the Municipality of Alexandroupolis and Soufli affected by the fire, accepts applications at the building where the Regional Unit of Evros is housed, at 40 Karoli and Dimitriou Street., on the 1st floor in office 3, contact numbers: 25513 50513 and 50510, from Monday 28 August 2023in order to start the autopsies.

The damage registration committees of the Regional Unit of Evros for the agricultural businesses of the Municipalities of Alexandroupolis and Soufli accept applications from Monday 28 August 2023 to the ELGA correspondents in the local Municipalities of Alexandroupolis and Soufli, as well as in the Community of Makri, the Municipal Unit of Feron and the Municipal Unit of Traianoupolis.
