Power Pass: Extended for June accounts

From tomorrow, Friday 15/07, the payment of the emergency financial aid (Power Pass) from the state budget begins. This is to cover part of the increase in the cost of electricity consumption in electricity bills of domestic consumers. Applies to bills issued during the period from December 1, 2021 to May 31, 2022. The government is extending the measure to bills issued in June.

Detailed liquidation information has been posted gradually since last night on the relevant Power Pass platform.At the same time, an informative e-mail is sent for their posting to the beneficiaries.

The amount of the aid for the Power Pass and the allocation per beneficiary is calculated by the Civil Society of Applied Sciences and the calculation is based on the data from the suppliers and/or the electricity operators and the AADE.

Refund for June electricity bills as well

Whereas EUR 280 million have already been committed for the implementation of the measure and that, for some citizens, actual bills were issued in June 2022 relating to the winter consumption period with a significant burden, the government is extending the measure to the bills issued in June.

More specifically, based on the applications already submitted on the Power Pass platform and without the need to submit a new application, in the near future, energy providers will receive data on bills issued in June. June's accounts will be associated with the statements main residence and student residence already declared by the beneficiaries for the month of May on the platform.

Then, the total aid will be recalculated for the period from 1 December to 30 June. In extra amount will be paid bank accounts already declared by the beneficiaries, bank accounts already declared by the beneficiaries,. It is noted that in case a beneficiary exceeds 30 euros charge for the entire period 1 December 2021 to 30 June 2022, he will receive the total aid, i.e. the amount will be recalculated for the entire period. The total aid for the period 1 December 2021 to 30 June 2022 may not exceed EUR 600.

Checking of applications continues for the Power Pass

A total of 2,952,778 applications have been submitted, concerning 2,530,597 natural persons. It is noted that a beneficiary had the right to apply beyond the main residence. The application concerns the rented residence of a dependent child studying in Greece.

Of the 2.5 million natural persons, immediate liquidation information is posted for the approximately 1.9 million people. These statements are expected to be paid tomorrow, Friday, with the amount to be amounts to approximately 230 million euro.

For the rest of the natural persons, the verification of the data continues. Those of them who are beneficiaries are expected to be paid next week, after the issuance of the relevant information statements. It is recalled that a prerequisite for receiving the aid is the total increase in electricity bills issued within the reference period exceed EUR 30. Based on the data so far, it is estimated that the total amount of extraordinary financial assistance for accounts issued in the period from 1 December 2021 to 31 May 2022; amounts to approximately 260 million euro.

It is noted that it has already been transferred from the General State Expenditure of the Ministry of Finance, amount of 280 million euros to the Ministry of Digital Governance and then to the Civil Society of Greece, in order to complete the payments.
