METLEN: Continues to Support FemStem Initiative to Empower Women in STEM

Aiming to alleviate gender inequality in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) METLEN Energy & Metals (“METLEN”) undertakes initiatives to support and empower women, who are still consistently underrepresented.

Despite progress made in recent years, women still make up only 28% of the global STEM workforce, which impedes their career advancement and creates a significant gender gap in leadership positions.

METLEN joins forces again with the Social Enterprise Knowl, advancing to the 2nd round of FemStem, helping women to enhance their skills and stay on the cutting edge of technological developments.

The new cycle, lasting 6 months, focusing on the STEM fields underlines the need for continuous training and specialization. The program will offer 30 hours of training and consulting, focusing on skills required in the modern market, such as soft skills, hard skills and digital skills. In addition, services will be provided such as CV development, simulations interviews with experienced HR personnel, as well as opportunities to directly interface with the labor market.

The 1st cycle of the FemStem program, we met effectively, as it helped 30 women to realize their potential, but also to improve their professional prospects. The effects were immediate: 14 have already managed to find work, 8 are continuing their studies, while the rest are in the process of training or looking for work.

It is worth noting that 30% of the beneficiaries received the professional certification they wanted, with a full scholarship, while the social value of the program, with an SROI index of 2.81 euros for every 1 euro of investment, strengthens the social and economic dynamics both for the beneficiaries and for the community.

The program is offered free of charge and is part of METLEN‘s Corporate Social Responsibility actions, supporting the Global Sustainable Development Goals, such as Zero Poverty (1), Gender Equality (5), Decent Work & Economic Development (8), and Less Inequalities (10).
