On the basis of the latest decisions of the European Council and the projections of the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP), ministries Development and Investment and Environment and Energy announced, in a Press Release issued today, the activation of a new open housing upgrade program, entitled SAVE-AUTONOMY for smart homes

The financial framework of the new program was agreed during a meeting with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy, Gerasimos Thomas, the Deputy Minister of Development and Investments, Giannis Tsakiris and the President and CEO of the Hellenic Development Bank, Athina Hadjipetrou.

The initial budget of the EXECONOMO-AUTONOMO is 850 million euros and the program It will start in the fall. The amount will come from resources of the current and new NSRF as well as other Community funds expected in the future, so that the program – which is adapted to the new requirements and needs of the of Greek householdsbe constantly open and have the possibility for continuous submission of proposals.

The EXOIKONOMO-AFTONOMO is a new, modern, ambitious and comprehensive framework for strengthening the energy saving in housing, with extended eligible interventions compared to previous programmes, including smart management systems (e.g. smart shading systems, smart thermostats, etc.), charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, electricity generation and storage systems using RES (e.g. photovoltaics with net metering).

The aim is to create a wave of investment in Greek households for the quality upgrade of at least 60,000 homes per year by 2030 which will lead to the radical renewal of Greece's ageing and energy-intensive building stock, while giving a significant boost to domestic value-added sectors (construction, building materials, thermal solar) and creating high economic and operational benefits to Greek households. In addition, it seeks to signal the transition to smarter homes, i.e. energy-efficient homes with a high degree of autonomy, through the use of innovative and digital technologies.

The activation of the EXOIKONOMO - AUTONOMO for Smart Homes programme is the first of a series of planned government actions in the field of energy saving, which will contribute to the immediate utilisation and channelling of the 72 billion funding package to the real economy. recently secured by the Greek Government.
