Almost 5 billion euros the European Commission is putting into the market to support electronics companies. In particular, the European Commission has announced that it will make available 4,8 billion euros funding innovative synergies between states and the private sector, through the Joint Technology Initiative (JTI) Programme.
Joint Technology Initiative (JTI)
The programme is part of wider EU planning. According to this, by 2020 Europe should generate 20% of GDP from the manufacture of high-tech goods.
The EU will issue an open call for interest and the best projects submitted will receive EU funding.
Large companies, research institutes, universities, small and medium-sized enterprises will be able to gain access to EU funds as long as their proposal is worthwhile.
The JTI program is expected to start in 2014 and will run for about 10 years.
