EIT Health: Acceleration program for startups and SMEs in the health sector

Share

EIT Health has announced the RIS Innovation Call 2023, a program that offers funding, consulting, training, and exceptional networking opportunities for businesses and organizations with early-stage plans in the healthcare sector.

The aim of the program is to support start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as academic, research and medical organizations. The aid aims to develop products and services that transform health systems in specific areas of interest. Specifically, the solutions should be part of one of the following focus areas selected by EIT Health:

  • Mental and Mental Health
  • Infectious Diseases
  • Fostering Healthier Lives
  • Harnessing Real-World Data

Participants must meet the following requirements in the funding programme:

  • The proposal to be submitted by a collaborative scheme between two (minimum) or three legal entities from the same country, where one legal person is a business (small and medium-sized or start-up) and the other legal person is either a research organization or an academic organization or a medical organization / health unit. Each organization or company can receive from 25,000 euros.
  • The proposed solutions should be at a certain level of maturity according to the CIMIT model: The projects selected should strictly have passed through IML stage 2 (Idea) and enter IML stage 3 (Proof of Concept) in at least 2 of the 4 sectors).
  • The proposed solutions should not only include an application (for mobile / tablet etc.). However, solutions with applications are eligible when they are integrated / connected to more complex systems / medical devices / platforms etc. which as a whole will constitute a complete offer/service/product.
  • To submit a proposal, the candidate consortium should contact the National Documentation Centre (EKT), initially sending a Summary of the solution/proposal so that after an initial analysis they can receive a signed Letter of Support from the coordinator of the EIT Health HUB.

Funding for EIT Health

Each consortium selected for funding will receive a total of up to €75,000 (if composed of 3 partners). Funding will be provided for further development of the proposed solution. Consulting services, training and networking opportunities will also be provided.

Those who have received funding from the respective calls of previous years, as well as those who have received funding from the Attract2Invest, European, Health Catapult, EIT Health Headstart, Start-ups Meet Pharma, Start-ups Meet Healthcare, Providers, Bridgehead, cannot participate in the program.
