DYPA: 2024 brings two new programs for 8,800 unemployed

2024 brings two new programs from the Public Employment Service (DYPA) with the aim of strengthening 8,800 unemployed.

The first action of DYPA

The first action is the “Integrated Training and Employment Action for 7,500 unemployed people aged 25-45”. The project is a comprehensive intervention which focuses on training, certification and short-term employment of unemployed registered in the DYPA register aged 25-45. The purpose of the action is to upgrade the skills and/or retrain the target group of unemployed people aged 25-45, to acquire skills in areas of high demand with an emphasis on green and digital skills.

The project will also include certification of the acquired knowledge and will be followed by a six-month program of employment subsidized by DYPA to gain professional experience. It is noted that 19% of the allocated funds are expected to contribute to green skills and jobs and the green economy. The project is implemented within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

The second intervention

The second DYPA intervention that will be implemented in 2024 is the “Program in the public health sector to hire 1,300 unemployed people aged 55 and over, who have completed the Subsidy Program for the employment of unemployed people aged 55 and over”. Market insiders say this is an especially important program, as the unemployed near retirement are unable to find work.

Beneficiaries of the action, therefore, will be 1,300 unemployed former beneficiaries of the program “Subsidy program for the employment of unemployed people aged 55 and over, in public sector bodies”, aged 55 to 67 years, as well as unemployed people over 67 years old and up to 74 years old, registered in the Digital Register of the unemployed of the Services of TWOs. The last, of course, should not have completed the required pensionable period for the establishment of a pension right and have completed their period of employment, in the institutions of the Ministry of Health, after September 30, 2023, with the “Subsidy program for the employment of the unemployed, aged 55 and over”.
