The Decision of Inclusion of State Aid Actions within the framework of ERANETs 2021A - European R&T Cooperation - Grant Act for Greek entities that successfully participated in Joint Calls for Proposals of the European Networks ER ANETs of ERANEK has been published. The decision concerns the inclusion of thirty-three (33) acts with a total public expenditure of 6,605,569.32 euros.

The Action concerns support for the implementation of research projects and innovation costs. In particular, it is included in the Actions for the European and International Networking of the research groups.

Objectives of the ERANETs 2021A Action

The main objective of the ERA-NETS schemes in the context of the European Research Area (ERA) and consequently this Action, are to intensify cooperation between Agencies of different member States and associated States and to coordinate joint research activities. With the term "research activities" conducted at national or regional level, are understood the Research and Innovation Programs, part of these Programs or similar initiatives. Typically, these activities:

• are strategically planned
• performed at national or regional level
• financed and managed by national public organizations or by structures closely linked to or designated by public authorities

Action budget

The Action's budget amounts to 10,126,000.00 euros (public expenditure) .

The Action is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Union and by national resources.

Beneficiaries of the Action

Beneficiaries of the Action are:

a) Research and knowledge dissemination organizations,
b) Businesses,
c) Other entities, treated either as Research and Knowledge Dissemination Organizations or as businesses, which will have successfully participated in the evaluation process of the Common European Tender.

Eligible expenditure for ERANETs 2021A

Eligible for ERANETs 2021A are the costs mentioned in Articles 25, 28 & 29 of the EU Regulation 651/2014:

i. Aid for research and development projects (Article 25)

a) staff costs

b) costs of instruments and equipment

c) expenditure on buildings and pitches

d) costs for Contract research

e) additional overheads and other operating costs

(g) expenditure on feasibility studies

ii. Innovation aid for SMEs (Article 28)

a) expenses for obtaining, validating and protecting patents
b) the costs for secondment by a research and knowledge dissemination organization or by a large enterprise of highly qualified personnel
c) expenditure on consulting and support services in the field of innovation

iii. Aid for procedural and organizational innovation (Article 29)

a) staff costs
b) costs of instruments and equipment
c) expenditure on buildings and pitches
d) costs for Contract research
e) additional overheads and other operating costs

The date of submission of the proposal to the Joint European Call for Proposals is defined as the start date of the eligibility of costs for each project.

Project budget ERANETs 2021A

The subsidized budget of each project can reach up to a maximum of 200,000.00 euros per proposal with a Greek partner and up to 250,000.00 euros per proposal with a Greek coordinator (public expenditure).

Amplification intensity

From 15 - 100% depending on the category of the beneficiary and the type of Aid.

Duration of the projects ERANETs 2021A

The deadline for the completion of the projects of the Joint Actions and Announcements of the European Networks cannot exceed 20 months from the date of issuance of the Integration Decision at national level and in any case cannot exceed 30/06/2023 which is defined as the end date of all of the Action's projects.
