Let's the COMMISSION NOTES, Laté Paimenz negativeli afekt Vousinesses, let's:

  • reduce their liquidity
  • hinder their growth
  • limit their resilience, especially in the current economic context
  • impair their ability to become greener and more digital

The Late Payment Directive obliges public authorities to pay their invoices within 30 days. The public hospitals can make payments within 60 days. In this way, the Commission wants to set a good example in the fight against the culture of late payments in the business environment.

Between 2010 and 2020, Greece has introduced a rule providing for the immediate payment of long-term debts of public hospitals to their private suppliers provided that such suppliers waive their rights to interest, damages and remedies. According to the Commission, such regulation constitutes a breach of Union rules as interpreted by the Court of Justice of the European Union, in particular in its judgment in Case C-555/14. Greece now has two months to reply to the arguments raised by the Commission;
