Bayer-Microsoft: Strategic partnership for digital solutions in agriculture

Bayer and Microsoft reached a strategic partnership. Aim to take advantage of cloud technology and create a set of science-based digital tools and solutions in agriculture and other relevant sectors of the economy. Taking advantage of advanced infrastructure and new data processing capabilities, agricultural production will be able to accelerate the uptake of innovative practices. This will enhance efficiency and support the development of the sustainable development all along the value chain.

The modern agricultural sector benefits from the use of digital tools and the collection of information and data on platforms such as Bayer's Climate FieldView™. A platform currently used by over 180 million producers in more than 20 countries. There is, however, room for improvement throughout the food, feed, fuel and fibre production chain. Mainly on the energy footprint, the use of valuable natural resources by strengthening efforts to combat climate change.

Under the agreement, Bayer and Microsoft will work together to jointly develop new solutions. Solutions that will be able to address some critical issues related to:

This partnership is an important strategic step towards Bayer's Agriculture Science Division's ambitious goal of 100% digitally supported sales by 2030, while enhancing its ability to offer its customers advanced digital technology solutions that help them achieve more. Through digital innovation and modern data processing solutions, Bayer is determined to create new standards for the agriculture industry.
