AADE: Time-consuming procedures in the interruption of work are over – A digital application is coming

No more hassle and time-consuming procedures around stopping operations for businesses and professionals since in a few days the new platform of the Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE)
is activated.Particularly, with the goal of reducing the bureaucracy and at the same time releasing auditors from an object that requires time, AADE is establishing a new digital system for those who want to proceed with a work stoppage limiting at the same time the required δικαιολογητικά.
Through the automated system of AADE, a check will be made if the conditions are met as well as if the necessary supporting documents are present, the number of which is significantly reduced.
The design of AADE
Companies that plan to close their business or stop their business activity will submit their declaration on the new platform. Automatically the system will check if the entrepreneur or professional can proceed with a business interruption.
The verification of declarations submitted to the platform on time, i.e. within 30 days from the date of the actual business suspension time, will be completed immediately without any inconvenience to the business or the professional.
For business interruption declarations that are submitted late, an electronic check and data cross-check will be carried out in order to establish whether the business interruption date that the taxpayer will have filled in is the actual one. On all overdue statements the system will perform automatic checks to detect:
- Any transactions made after the date declared by the professional as the cut-off date.
- If new tax obligations have been created
- If the assets have been transferred
- If the cash register is closed (if any)
After the check is completed and it is established that the conditions have been met, the system will complete the process and a message will be sent for the final stop of operations.
Today the process starts electronically with the submission of the application by the professional or business to the AADE digital portal but after that an auditor takes over in order to determine if the conditions are met. With the activation of the new system the checking of conditions and supporting documents will be done automatically without human intervention.
This does not mean that there will be no sample checks by the tax office. Based on risk analysis criteria a sample of cases will be generated to be checked to see if the process and the data declared by the companies were correct.
