Recovery Fund: 408 investment projects in the agricultural sector worth €402 million euros

Evaluation of 408 investment projects worth €402,646,799 from the €402,646,799 Recovery Fund, submitted to three actions of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, "Greece 2.0" , focusing on the agricultural sector . The implementation of all the above investments may lead to the mobilisation of resources amounting to EUR 813 819 348.

Of the 408 investment projects, 386 (i.e. almost 95% of the total), with a budget of €321,287,309, have been submitted by small and medium-sized enterprisesin the agricultural sector, with the mobilisation amounting to €626,798,488.

In particular, as regards the implementation path of each action:

1. Innovation and Green Transition in Agro-processing

The action "Innovation and Green Transition in Agro-processing" has a budget of €181.521.000. It provides for aid for the processing and marketing of agricultural and non-agricultural products.

The submission of applications by collective schemes, producer organisations and schemes applying contract farming and/or vertical integration took place between 15.6.2022 and 15.8.2022. 85 applications were submitted, with a total budget of EUR 182 005 414, which is expected to result in the mobilisation of funds amounting to EUR 362 148 938.

2. Modernisation of the Primary Sector

The action Modernisation of the Primary Sector has a total budget of EUR 98 111 000. The deadline for submission of applications was 15.9.2022.

Its aim is to increase the added value of agricultural products, promote innovation and protection of the environment . In addition, it aims to:

  • the creation of food supply chains
  • the development of innovative and environmentally friendly mass production processes
  • promoting extroversion in international markets

The implementation of contract farming and/or vertical integration of production is also sought.

236 applications were submitted by businesses and collective schemes, with a total budget of €146,419,083, with the potential mobilisation of resources amounting to €301,207,807 from the Recovery Fund.

3. Green Agrotourism

The "Green Rural Tourism" action has a budget of €49.006.000. The deadline for submission of applications was 19.07.2022. In the framework of this measure, investment projects in the tourism sector are supported, which link the primary and secondary sector with the tertiary sector, creating a new tourism product.

87 applications were received, all from small and medium-sized enterprises(40 existing and 47 in the process of being set up). The total budget of the applications amounted to EUR 74.222.302, which translates into a mobilisation of EUR 150.462.603.
