Photovoltaics on the roof: Platform available for applications

The ability of thousands of households and farmers to produce the electricity they need and save money is made possible by the Photovoltaics on the Roof programme (Government Gazette 2903/B/02-05-2023) with a total budget of 238 million euros, the platform of which ( https://pvstegi.gov.gr ) available from Tuesday 2 May.

Beneficiaries of the Programme are households and farmers who will be able to install their own small photovoltaic system, combined with a storage system (battery). Η subsidy of the photovoltaic system starts from 45% to 75% for households. The corresponding rates for farmers are 40% - 60%, while the total subsidy of the photovoltaic system with battery can reach up to 16,000 euros for households and10,000 euros for farmers.

At the same time, a special 10%bonus is provided for people with disabilities, spouses and dependants of people with disabilities, single-parent, three-parent and large families.

The submission of applications

The submission of applications and their approval is immediate, fast and automated, without hassle and complicated bureaucracy, through the online platform of the DEDDIE and the use of TAXISNET codes. The application system will remain open until the available resources are exhausted, with a deadline of the end of June 2024.

Each natural person may submit only one application, for a single dwelling, primary or secondary, which has an active domestic electricity supply. Farmers may submit more than one application, depending on the number of agricultural electricity providers they have. They may also submit an application for their residence.

Photovoltaics on the roof - How the budget is distributed

The total budget of the Programme is €238 million. euro. It comes from the resources of the Recovery and Resilience Fund and shall be distributed as follows:

  • Special attention is given to vulnerable households and €45 million is earmarked exclusively for them. EUR (Category A)
  • Exclusively for citizens with individual income <= 20,000€ or family income <= 40,000€: 100 million. EUR (Category B)
  • Exclusively for citizens with individual income > 20,000€ or family income > 40,000€: 63 million. EUR (Category C)
  • Exclusive for professional and special scheme farmers: 30 million EUR (Category D)

Conditions and objectives

The basic requirement for submitting an application is that the applicant must have already concluded a Connection Contract with the DEDDIE. However, the photovoltaic station must not have been connected.

This station can be installed:

  • on the roof or the roof of a building (which includes canopies, terraces, facades, shades and pergolas)
  • in ancillary areas of the building or agricultural land (e.g. storage and parking areas); or
  • on the ground

The aim of the programme is to cover up to the full cost of the battery and the development and installation costs of the photovoltaic. For the first two categories, the subsidy for the battery is 100%, while for the third and fourth categories it is 90%.

Households will be required to install a battery-operated photovoltaic station. Farmers are given the option to choose to install a photovoltaic station with or without a battery.

The maximum installed capacity of the photovoltaic station to be subsidised is set at 10.8kW. Similarly, as regards the battery, the maximum subsidy is set at 10,8kWh.
