Over 131,500 unemployed people benefited from active employment policies

Over 131,500 unemployed people benefited from the active employment policies of the Public Employment Service - DYPA in 46 months, setting an all-time record.

Specifically, between 1 August 2019 and 31 May 2023, 131,644 unemployed people were employed through DYPA programmes, almost quadrupling the rate of new job creation, work experience and entrepreneurship.

According to the new study by the Strategic Planning Directorate of the FRA, which analysed data from the Integrated Information System:

  • 490 unemployed people participated in job creation programmes and special employment programmes, 30,267 young unemployed people participated in work experience programmes, while 18,887 unemployed people created new businesses through a grant from the Public Employment Service.
  • 55% of the beneficiaries live and work in areas outside Attica and Central Macedonia.
  • 60% of beneficiaries are women, while 44% are young people up to 29 years old. Young women up to 29 years old represent 28% of the beneficiaries.
  • 66% of beneficiaries are graduates up to post-secondary education, while graduates make up 34%. 41% are high school graduates.
  • 58% of beneficiaries were unemployed for up to 12 months, while the rest were long-term unemployed.
  • 91% of the beneficiaries were employed in micro enterprises (1-9 employees). 33% were employed in enterprises in the category Wholesale and Retail Trade, Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles, 15% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities, 9% in Accommodation and Food Services, 9% in Manufacturing and 8% in Human Health and Social Work activities.
