51 proposals were made submitted during the first phase of the submission and evaluation of the Local Development Strategies with Local Communities Initiative at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management, under the call for proposals for the selection of Sub-intervention P3-77-4.1 "Support for Local Development through LEADER (LEADER - Local Development through Local Community Initiative)" of Strategic Cap Plan (SA CAP).

«The completion of the first phase of the leader is important for our agricultural production. It is a programme that is fully in line with the government's philosophy and policy of supporting the Greek region. By supporting the primary sector, we are supporting the Greek periphery. At the same time, the programme serves the European standards of sustainable development and the government's perception of the transition from the model of agricultural exploitation to the model of sustainable and profitable entrepreneurship"said in a statement the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Lefteris Avgenakis and added: "We have a plan, we have a vision, we are cultivating the future of the primary sector. We give strong incentives to our agricultural production. Our goal is to strengthen agricultural production, sustainable development and support the Greek economy."

According to a statement by the Ministry of Agriculture, proposals that meet the eligibility criteria are eligible to participate in the second phase of the tender procedure, the deadline for which is 12 July 2023.

It should be noted that the invitation to tender provides for the possibility of lodging objections at all stages of the tender procedure. If all the rural areas of the country are not covered by this call, the procedure may be repeated for these areas.

The aim of the call is to select 50 local development strategies, covering the whole country, with the exception of its urban centres.
