Greece 2.0: Grants of 445 million euros for the digital transformation of SMEs

The Ministries of Finance and Digital Governance announce that the platform has been put into productive operation (https://digitalsme.gov.gr) for applications from interested parties to participate in the action: Digital Transformation of SMEs. This is a project, implemented under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan "Greece 2.0", with funding from the European Union - NextGenerationEU. The total budget for Digital Transformation is €445 million.

The action is implemented in accordance with the provisions of a Joint Decision of the Minister of State and Digital Governance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis and the Deputy Minister of Finance, Theodoros Skylakakis.

The action is implemented by the Information Society MAE (supervised body of the Ministry of Digital Governance). It concerns the enhancement of the digital maturity of the country's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) The aim is to modernize their production, commercial and administrative operation.

The programme will implement investments in technologies and services that promote the digitalisation of small and medium-sized enterprises, namely:

  • electronic payments
  • Online sales and e-invoicing applications
  • digital advertising tools
  • teleworking systems
  • Business analytics
  • upgrading digital skills
  • data backup and disaster recovery services
  • artificial intelligence
  • Internet of Things
  • provision of integrated solutions for contactless service
  • cybersecurity systems
  • cloud computing infrastructures and services
  • industrial data platform models and software, upgrading cash registers and POS ecosystem

The three Digital Transformation Programmes

The action to support small and medium-sized enterprises, for the purchase / utilization of digital products and services and their general support for their digital transformation, is divided into three sub-State Aid programs:

  • Program I: "SMEs Digital Tools"
  • Program II: "Development of Digital Products and Services"
  • Programme III: "Digital Transactions"

The €180 million "SMEs Digital Tools" programme , provides cheques (vouchers), to be made available for the acquisition – through purchase or lease – of new digital products and services. The aim is to enhance the digital maturity of the country's SMEs, through the use of various digital tools.

Through the "Development of Digital Products and Services" programme, with a budget of €100 million. digital investments will be subsidised in the form of a grant. The amount will be between EUR 200 000 million and EUR 2 million. , for the development of infrastructure and cloud services.

finally , with the "Digital Transactions" programme, amounting to 165 million euros, the adoption of modern digital tools that support the processes of invoicing, issuing tax documents and making electronic payments is enhanced.
