ELGA: Compensation to producers affected by fires

The compensation of producers affected by the recent fires was the main topic of the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Agricultural Insurance Organisation (ELGA) on Thursday 3 August 2023.

The ELGA aid prices

In particular, following cooperation between the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Lefteris Avgenakis and the President of ELGA, Andreas Th. Lykourentzou, the Board of Directors of the Agency decided the following:

The aid prices for crops affected by the fires of 2023, which are included in State financial aid programmes "State Aid "
farmers
are defined as follows:

  1. olive trees: one hundred and sixty (160,00) euros
  2. other tree crops: one hundred and seven (EUR 107,00)
  3. vines: three thousand five hundred (3.500,00) euros per hectare
  4. aromatic plants: two thousand (2.000,00) euros per hectare

The decision of the ELGA Board of Directors is submitted to the
Governmental State Aid Committee
to take the necessary decisions on the compensation budget, following the sending of the digital file by ELGA with the beneficiary producers.

It is worth noting that, the ELGA officials operate in all areas, which were affected by the fire and specifically:

  1. In Magnesia, the recording of livestock losses will be completed within days
  2. In Rhodes, the markings on both the plant and animal capital are evolving
  3. In Corfu, immediately after the completion of the extinguishing of the fire, the ELGA crews went to the field and complete the work of markings
