Elevate Greece – Hellenic-German Chamber of Commerce: Memorandum of Cooperation for startups and innovation

Μνημόνιο συνεργασίας με το Ελληνικό Δημόσιο υπέγραψε το Ελληνογερμανικό Εμπορικό και βιομηχανικό Επιμελητήριο για την καθοδήγηση και δικτύωση των νεοφυών επιχειρήσεων εγγεγραμμένων στην ηλεκτρονική πλατφόρμα Elevate Greece. Του Εθνικού Μητρώου Νεοφυών – Επιχειρήσεων της Γενικής Γραμματείας Έρευνας και Καινοτομίας του υπουργείου Ανάπτυξης και Επενδύσεων.

The Memorandum was signed by the Deputy Minister of Research and Technology, Dr. Christos Dimas and the Hellenic-German Chamber of Commerce, its President Mr. Vasilios Gounaris, in the framework of the 3rdInnovation Forum,entitled "Innovation: The conference isco-organized by the Hellenic-German Chamber of Commerce and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany.

According to the MoU, the Hellenic-German Chamber intends to take initiatives and implement actions in the following areas:

  • vocational training
  • scientific research and
  • extroversion

More specifically, it intends to:

  • To contribute to the interconnection of the Greek innovation ecosystem with the business community in Greece and Germany.
  • To promote Greek startups and their activities in Germany, through various actions, such as the organization of visits and business missions to research centers and companies in Germany.
  • To organise pitching events/presentations of start-ups per field of action with the participation of interested member companies.
  • Invite the award-winning startups to participate in the Chamber's Membership Committees.
  • To support the 3rd Greek-German Research and Innovation Programme, for cooperation in the fields of Renewable Energy Sources, Materials Science and Information and Telecommunication Technologies.

"The Memorandum of Understanding aims at training, guidance, support and networking of Greek start-ups with the corresponding Research and Innovation ecosystem in Germany. The The Chamber with its network of businesses, its human resources and its expertise in entrepreneurship and innovation offers significant incentives, benefits and services that will increase the competitiveness and extroversion of Greek start-ups. In this way they will gain even greater access to large and mature markets in central Europe."

«Η συνένωση των δυνάμεων του φορέα με το Elevate Greece θα διαμορφώσει ένα νέο πλαίσιο ισχυρών συνεργείων, focused on innovation and start-ups, which in their first steps have the need for support and guidance by funding mechanisms and actors with specialised know-how, so that their launch can more confidently predict success. The Hellenic-German Chamber of Commerce is committed to support Elevate Greece. It will contribute to the best possible networking of Greek startups. As well as providing opportunities for extroversion to Europe's largest economy, Germany."

Στο μεταξύ, μετά την υπογραφή του MoU, ο υφυπουργός Έρευνας και Τεχνολογίας Δρ. Christos Dimas, welcoming the first panel of the Forum, entitled "Innovative technologies are changing society and the economy - Best Practices from Germany and Greece", αναφέρθηκε στο Elevate Greece λέγοντας ότι «εξελίσσεται συνεχώς και αποτελεί πλέον τον σύμμαχο της Πολιτείας, που παρέχει σημαντικά κίνητρα και ευκαιρίες στα μέλη του οικοσυστήματος καινοτομίας. He did not know how many there were, where they were located, in which sector they operated, how many employees they employed and what their turnover was. Therefore, when the State does not have all this data, impossible to design and also to implement an effective policy"Mr. Chr. Demas.

At the same time he added:

"Today, for all the above questions, there are answers, statistics and mapped data. The state has the ability to design policies tailored to the needs of the ecosystem."

Describing the profile of Elevate Greece, he said:

"It is essentially the tool through which are provided specialised incentives to start-ups, such as tax deductions for angel investors, stock options and even NSRF actions to strengthen their liquidity. It is also framed by a important network Official Supporters who are active in the field of innovation, investment and entrepreneurship, which includes banks, multinational companies, Greek businesses and institutional supporters. The benefits offered by official supporters to start-ups include, among others, cash prizes, access to their global innovation network, cloud services, advisory services and even specialised banking products. Our goal is to continue to provide incentives and opportunities for talented young people to enter the better market, to to realize their dreams here, but also to make our society and economy better," the Deputy Minister said emphatically.
