More than 10 programs of the Public Employment Service (DYPA, former OAED) will proceed within the year, creating a total of more than 86,000 new jobs. Tomorrow one of them starts. Πρόκειται για το Πρόγραμμα απόκτησης επαγγελματικής εμπειρίας για 10.000 ανέργους νέους, 18-29 ετών, στις Περιφέρειες Αττικής και Κεντρικής Μακεδονίας.

Specifically, 6,500 young unemployed in Attica and 3,500 in Central Macedonia will have the opportunity to upgrade their qualifications and prepare for their integration into the labor market through this labor subsidy program. The program has a duration of 7 months. The DYPA will pay to the beneficiaries a monthly compensation equal to the statutory minimum net salary (with full insurance contributions). The proportion of holiday gifts and holiday allowances will also be paid. The submission of applications starts tomorrow, Friday, June 3 at 12.00.

The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Kostis Hatzidakis, announced the launch of the program during his visit yesterday to the Greek cosmetics production and packaging company VERAL SA, together with the commander of DYPA, Spyros Protopsaltis. This company maintains a long-term cooperation with DYPA, creating several new jobs, a significant part of which are subsidized by the DYPA programs and mainly concern young people.

The goal of the new program, duration of 7 months and a budget of 65 million euros (co-financed by the NSRF) is to enhance young people's access to the labour market through the acquisition of work experience.

Beneficiaries are 10,000 unemployed young people, aged 18-29, graduates of at least compulsory education, registered in the unemployment registers of the Employment Promotion Centers of DYPA based in areas of competence of the Region of Attica and the Region of Central Macedonia.

Businesses interested in participating are included in the program, depending on the staff they employ, as follows:

Employers with Staff up to a Maximum Number of Beneficiaries

3 persons 1

4-9 persons 2

10-19 persons 3

20-30 persons 5

31-50 people 8

over 50 people 20% of the staff employed, up to 20

A prerequisite is that the company has not made a reduction in staff due to termination of an employment contract in the 3 months before the submission of the application.

The employment consultants of the Public Employment Service indicate to the enterprise candidates in accordance with the required qualifications of the vacancy. Then the company selects the beneficiary and they sign a cooperation agreement.

Kostis Hatzidakis, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs

"This programme is very useful for both businesses and young people. It has a very strong subsidy, equal to the minimum wage for 7 months and every young person who is currently looking for work should know about it, especially in the Regions of Attica and Central Macedonia. Talking today in this business with both the owners of the company and the employees who have used similar programs so far, the added value and usefulness of these programs is clearly shown."

Spyros Protopsaltis, DYPA commander

"Another action with an emphasis on young people starts tomorrow, giving the opportunity to 10,000 unemployed people to gain valuable experience and integrate into the labor market, but also to businesses to strengthen their staff. With a 100% grant, it is an attractive program that gives a strong incentive to hire unemployed people. We continue to invest in active employment policies, especially for groups facing significant obstacles, such as the young unemployed."
