In the context of supporting the long-term unemployed and the continuous evaluation of active employment policies, the Board of Directors of thePublic Employment Service - DYPA approved a significant increase in the number of jobs offered in its successful employment program for long-term unemployed persons aged 55-67.
The amendment to the programme provides for An additional 6,500 seats, with a total budget of 117 million euro.
The announcement was made by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis last Friday during a discussion with beneficiaries of the program,
The aim of the programme is to recruit people with several months (12+ months) of absence from a professional activity, aged 55-67 years, in full-time positions. The duration of the programme is 12 months. however there is the possibility of extension for another 12 months. The monthly subsidy for salary and social security contributions amounts to 75% up to EUR 750 per month.
The programme for the long-term unemployed was launched in September 2017. Until July 2020 coverage was low as Fewer than 1,500 hires. In July 2020, the programme was strengthened and improved.
