The European Commission has approved the Operational Programme (OP) Digital Transformation, With a total budget of 913 million euro. The OP was designed in the framework of the NSRF 2021/27. Aim for 'a smarter Europe by promoting innovative and smart economic transformation as well as regional digital interconnectivity'.
The Digital Transformation Operational Programme will contribute substantially to the building of "Digital Greece ". This will be achieved by promoting the economic transformation of the country, emphasizing the exploitation and integration of cutting-edge technologies, but also serving the strategic choice to enhance digital skills.
The Digital Transformation OP is structured around three main strategic axes:
- the digital transformation of the Public Sector with a total budget of 400 million euros
- enhancing digital connectivity with high-speed broadband access where an additional EUR 400 million is foreseen. euros
- the development of digital skills with funding of 113 million euros
Digital transformation - Objectives of the Operational Programme
The objectives of the actions to be implemented under the Digital Transformation OP are:
- To provide citizens and businesses with innovative public digital services and applications, ensuring the following principles:
- the protection of personal data
- Accessibility and Universal design
- to be friendly to all without exceptions and exclusions
- Ensuring the interoperability of digital systems and services to further strengthen the Single Public Digital Gateway in gov.gr
- The development of digital platforms to support business activity
- The development of environmentally friendly cloud infrastructure and high availability data centers
- The expansion of wireless access points and the completion of the Public Sector Network
- Ensuring ultra-high-speed connectivity by deploying fibre optic networks
- The strengthening of the "National Academy of Digital Competences" and the "National Alliance for Digital Skills and Employment" with key objectives: The strengthening of the digital skills of both public and private sector employees and the general population, the familiarization of citizens with digital services as a whole and the empowerment of employees of medium and high digital maturity, on the exploitation and management of innovative digital technologies and cybersecurity
It is worth noting that the reference point for the implementation of the Digital Transformation OP is the Digital Transformation Paper 2020/25, which sets out:

Successful implementation of the design of the Digital Transformation OP was held in the framework of the cooperation between the Minister of State and Digital Governance Kyriakos Pierrakakis and the Deputy Minister of Development and Investments Yannis Tsakiris, with the decisive contribution of the Secretaries General of Public Investments and NSRF Dimitris Skalkos and Digital Governance and Simplification of Procedures Leonidas Christopoulos, who coordinated the Policy Making Group of the Ministry of Digital Governance .
