Their forces are joined by the National Center for Natural Sciences Research (EKEFE) "Demokritos" (Innovation Hub) and the American College of Greece. Aim to expand and intensify their efforts in the axes of innovation and economic development.
Starting from 2022, E.K.E.F.E. "Demokritos" will host the ACG Innovation Hub@Demokritos. It will be a breeding ground for startups, venture capitalists, research partnerships, and other aspects of innovation. In an extensive Memorandum of Cooperation between the two institutions, which was signed in July 2021, the E.K.E.F.E. "Demokritos" and the American College of Greece agreed to cooperate in other fields as well. For example in research work, as well as in exchange of researchers/academic staff, between the two institutions.
The President of the H.C.E.E.F.E.. "Democritus" Dr. George Nounesis said: "The Democritus ecosystem offers space and encouragement for innovation at the startup level and beyond, hosting companies ranging from spin-offs to Tesla's R&D department. We are very happy to welcome the American College of Greece as a partner in this new venture. A project that will further expand the influence of "Democritos" in innovation and the support of entrepreneurship".
For his part, the president of the American College of Greece, Dr. David G. Horner, noted the following: "The E.K.E.F.E. "Demokritos" and the American College of Greece have been neighbors in Agia Paraskevi for many years. This agreement echoes not only the geographical proximity but also the similarities in our institutional goals to promote research and innovation, as well as our commitment to promoting economic development in Greece."
The ACG Innovation Hub@Demokritos is expected to start operations from spring 2022. It will be under the direction of the Research, Technology & Innovation Network (RTIN) of the American College of Greece.
