Successful submission of the submission of the Fair Development Transition Programme (CMP) Competitiveness and Territorial Plans under the NSRF 2021/27 through the National Hub of the Special Service for Strategic Planning and Evaluation (ESSA) to the European Commission.

The Competitiveness Programme for the period 2021/27 is one of the first Sectoral Programmes expected to be adopted by the European Commission. The Competitiveness Programme will contribute to achieving our national objectives. It is the main pillar for the design of a development strategy in the regions of the DRC. It provides the necessary means to achieve significant economic, social and environmental results. Its approval by the European Commission is expected to take place in the summer of this year. The DAM Program has a total budget of 1.63 billion euros and is structured into Priorities such as:

  • The strengthening and promotion of entrepreneurship, with actions to strengthen businesses - with an emphasis on small and medium-sized enterprises - and the interconnection of entrepreneurship with research and innovation.
  • The energy transition, with actions of an energy nature such as: district heating, electrification, energy storage systems, etc.
  • The circular economy, with actions aimed at the reuse of lignite soils and the development of new economic activities.
  • The fair labor transition, with actions to strengthen the skills of the human resources of the transition areas and the promotion of employment.

Adonis Georgiades, Minister of Development and Investment for the Competitiveness Programme

"Today's day of completion of the submission of the DAM Program fills me with satisfaction and joy, because despite the difficult period we are going through worldwide, our government continues to work non-stop with a plan and method for the Greece we dream of. A Greece prioritizing the green transition and the development of the Greek economy in a sustainable direction. I want to congratulate the Deputy Minister, Nikos Papathanasis, the President of the SDAM Coordinating Committee, Kostis Mousouroulis, the Commander of the Special Service of DAM, Pelopidas Kalliris and their team, who worked with dedication and zeal to achieve this ambitious project".

Nikos Papathanasis, Deputy Minister of Development

"I want to congratulate everyone who contributed to the successful completion of the DAM Program submission. Mainly the president of the SDAM Coordinating Committee, Mr. Kostis Mousouroulis for his decisive contribution to the whole project. Also the commander of the DAM Special Service, Mr. Pelopida Kalliri. With the total public and private resources that will flow into our country in the next seven years and the change of the production model from the monoculture of lignite production, we are moving towards a green, circular and sustainable development with more and quality jobs. We give a new perspective to the residents of the transition areas."
