Commission: New funding opportunities for sports projects for all

Two new calls for proposals for funding projects for sport for all have been announced by the European Commission:

  • the EU preparatory action "Sports programmes for all and infrastructure innovation" with a total budget of €1.95 million; euro and
  • the pilot project "Sport for people and the planet – a new approach to sustainability through sport in Europe"

The total budget for the two projects is at 1.44 million euro.

Calls for tenders give sporting organisations the opportunity to find innovative ideas and to develop and promote new forms of sport and physical activity that are better aligned with citizens' demand. The aim of the preparatory action 'Sport programmes for all and infrastructure innovation' is to stimulate the sport sector expand its services through creativity, innovation and new practices. The aim of the new pilot project "Sport for people and the planet – a new approach to sustainability through sport in Europe" is inspire EU citizens to actively adopt sustainable behaviours through the communicative power of sport, major sporting events and leading figures of sport who act as role models. The actions supported by this project will also contribute to the implementation of the New European Bauhaus initiative.Calls for proposals are managed by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). The deadline for applications is 12 October. The EACEA PPPA website contains a list of projects funded under previous pilot projects and preparatory actions.
