AADE: Digital from 4/11/2024 business interruption for professionals and businesses

Digitally and through an automated verification process from Monday 4/11/2024 the interruption of operations of natural and legal persons or entities, according to the decision of the commander of the Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE), George Pitsilis. The new process significantly reduces downtime facilitating over 100,000 taxpayers annually.

“Stopping work is a milestone in the cycle of professional and life relationships of a taxpayer or a business. It must be completed immediately, so that the person concerned can move smoothly to the next step, whether it concerns retirement or a new chapter in their professional activity. We utilize the means of digital technology and invest in the modernization of our processes, to facilitate citizens and businesses to focus undistractedly on their next step“, said the AADE commander.

Natural and legal persons as well as legal entities have the right to submit a request to stop work on the new digital platform. Excluded from the automated process and still submitted through the My Requests digital application are work stoppage requests regarding:

  • taxpayers in a state of bankruptcy
  • deceased
  • reason for business conversion

In particular, the grantees can now submit the request for cessation of operations in the digital portal myAADE, under the path Registry and Contact > Change of Registry Information > Cessation of Business Operations. With the successful submission of the application, automated verifications are carried out by AADE’s information systems, to verify the time of work interruption.

If the requested downtime:

  • systematically verified, the process is completed in the digital application and the Business Cessation Certificate is issued digitally
  • is not systematically verified, the taxpayer is given the option of:
    • accepting the proposed work stoppage time resulting from the verifications or
    • to initiate the request to the competent Service (DOU/KEFODE), in order to evaluate the allegations presented and to complete the work stoppage procedure, issuing a relevant declaratory act.

The Business Cessation Certificate is posted on the digital platform and the taxpayer is notified about it via:

  • of the digital portal myAADE, in the path Register and Contact > My Messages
  • myAADEapp
  • email

Taxpayers who have already submitted a request through the “My Requests” application, which has not yet been processed, are invited to submit their request again in the new digital application.
