Innovation Ready - Maggie Athanasiadis, Director of the Innovation Sector of SEV
"Infrastructure such as, electricity and water distribution networks, energy resource management, transport, vehicle traffic management, street lighting, garbage collection and recycling should take advantage of the possibilities offered by Artificial intelligence and other digital technologies, in order to offer better services to citizens, to make more efficient use of resources and to create less impact on the environment. Intelligent infrastructures promote participatory governance as the citizen has more information and a stronger voice. They help to deal with threats to public safety faster. They contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions and achieve energy and other resource savings. The development of partnerships between local authorities, public infrastructure management companies and other businesses and organizations with innovative startups will be instrumental in creating sustainable, intelligent infrastructure that improves the lives of all of us."
