Three years: How the salary will be structured [examples]
Within the week, it is expected to be submitted to the Parliament the amendment which provides for the “unfreezing” of the three years from January 1, 2024 and any seniority allowance, which has been suspended since 2012, without retroactive effect.
This was stated, among others, by the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Adonis Georgiadis, at a press conference, pointing out that, in practice, this decision brings forward by approximately 1 to 1.5 years a process which, according to existing legislation, would be “unlocked” when unemployment reached 10% for four consecutive quarters.
He clarified that the reset of the three years will not have retroactivity from the years between 2012 and today.
The three-year plan
The three-year plan foresees:
- The reinstatement of the statutory minimum wage increase with seniority allowance (three years), for both employees and artisans, from 01.01.2024
- The lifting of the suspension of the validity of provisions of Collective Labor Agreements and Arbitration Decisions, which currently provide or will provide in the future seniority increases (three-year, five-year and general multi-year work benefits)
- The establishment from 01.01.2024 of the claim for the payment of the seniority allowance at the minimum statutory salary and the multi-year allowances of the Collective Labor Agreements
- The recognition, in order to calculate the seniority allowance, of the working time spent before 14.02.2012 as well as that which will be spent after 01.01.2024 (not a retrospective search of the intervening years for the period 14.2.2012 to 31.12.2023)
In the case of COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS, THE UPPER LIMITS ARE ADJUSTED ACCORDING TO THE APPLICABLE LEVEL OF BASIC SALARY AND SCALE OF INCOME.
Also in the event that the employees have already seen wage increases in the interim from 2012 to 2023, and they exceed the current ones in force either at the minimum or those defined in the Collective Labor Agreements then they are set off against those paid.
It is recalled that according to the data of ERGANIS the average salary in our country is 1,190 euros, i.e. 52% above bottom.
