{"id":9989,"date":"2023-03-03T09:32:04","date_gmt":"2023-03-03T09:32:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev-espa.summerize.io\/cypa-onex-linking-education-to-the-blue-economy\/"},"modified":"2023-07-23T14:37:41","modified_gmt":"2023-07-23T14:37:41","slug":"cypa-onex-linking-education-to-the-blue-economy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/espa.io\/en\/cypa-onex-linking-education-to-the-blue-economy\/","title":{"rendered":"CYPA &#8211; ONEX: Linking education to the &#8220;blue economy&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/espa.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/dypa-onex-diasindesi-tis-ekpaideusis-me-tin-galazia-oikonomia-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p><strong>Memorandum of Understanding<\/strong> between the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dypa.gov.gr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Public Employment Service<\/a><\/strong> (PES ) and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.onexcompany.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">ONEX Shipyards &amp; Technologies<\/a><\/strong> for the closer <strong>interconnection<\/strong> of <strong>vocational<\/strong> <strong>training<\/strong> with the new increased <strong>needs<\/strong> of the &#8220;<strong>blue economy<\/strong>&#8220;, resulting from the <strong>reopening<\/strong> of the <strong>Elefsina Shipyards<\/strong>. The Memorandum was signed by the Governor of DYPA Spyros Protopsaltis and the Chairman and CEO of ONEX Shipyards &amp; Technologies Panos Xenokostas, at an event, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Justice and MP for West Attica George Kotsiras, the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament and MP for West Attica Thanasis Bouras, the Mayor of Elefsina Argyris Economou and the Mayor of Mandra-Eidyllia Christos Stathis.<\/p>\n\n<p>Starting from the coming school year, the <strong>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/espa.io\/en\/aid_type\/public-employment-services\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vocational School of Apprenticeship DYPA<\/a>\n<\/strong> Elefsina (EPAS) will operate the <strong>new specialties<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>&#8220;Shipbuilding Industry Technician&#8221; <\/strong>and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>&#8220;Electrical Systems Support Technician&#8221;<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>In the context of the Memorandum, the <strong>expertise<\/strong> of the UNECE will be used to <strong>reform the<\/strong> relevant <strong>curricula<\/strong>. The aim is to <strong>meet<\/strong> the modern <strong>requirements<\/strong> of the <strong>sector<\/strong>, as well as the <strong>modernisation of<\/strong> <strong>laboratories<\/strong> and the <strong>necessary<\/strong> <strong>equipment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>In addition, through the cooperation, <strong>all<\/strong> <strong>apprentices<\/strong> of the relevant specialties of EPAS <strong>secure<\/strong> <strong>paid<\/strong> and <strong>insured<\/strong> <strong>internships<\/strong> <strong>at<\/strong> the <strong>Elefsina<\/strong> <strong>Shipyards<\/strong>. Thus they gain <strong>experience<\/strong> in <strong>real<\/strong> <strong>working<\/strong> <strong>conditions<\/strong> and work culture. At the same time, there is the possibility of <strong>their<\/strong> <strong>absorption in<\/strong> the company, immediately <strong>after<\/strong> <strong>graduation<\/strong> <strong>.<\/strong> In order to attract young people to the above specialisations, DYPA and ONEX will implement <strong>joint communication and information actions<\/strong>. These will concern the <strong>apprenticeship programmes offered and the career prospects they offer <\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>At the same time<\/strong>, through the <strong>Medium and <a href=\"https:\/\/espa.io\/en\/business_size\/large\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Large<\/a> Enterprises Service Unit<\/strong> ( <strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/espa.io\/en\/business_size\/medium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MMEU<\/a><\/strong> ), DYPA will offer ONEX <strong>targeted<\/strong> <strong>recruitment<\/strong> <strong>services<\/strong> for all levels of specialisation. This <strong>expands<\/strong> the <strong>cooperation<\/strong> that started with the recruitment of unemployed persons and the <strong>participation<\/strong> of <strong>ONEX<\/strong> in the <strong>&#8220;Career Day&#8221;<\/strong> in Elefsina.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Spyros Protopsaltis, Commander of the DYPA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>&#8220;Today&#8217;s MoU between DYPA and UNEX is another example where we are responding with  <strong>speed and flexibility to labour market developments<\/strong>  at local level, with the aim of offering young people of Elefsina and the wider region of West Attica, quality educational choices that lead to professions with increasing demand, such as the blue economy. Guided by the  <strong>successful cooperation with EAB<\/strong> for  <strong>aircraft engineers in Chalkida<\/strong>, we continue to  <strong>we interconnect<\/strong> the  <strong>vocational<\/strong> <strong>training<\/strong> and  <strong>training<\/strong> with  <strong>flagship<\/strong> <strong>investments<\/strong> that create <strong>new jobs<\/strong> and <strong>new needs for skilled and properly trained staff<\/strong>. The EIF must and can play a <strong>key<\/strong> <strong>role<\/strong> in meeting the needs of the economy. As well as for a <strong>qualified<\/strong> <strong>workforce<\/strong> and by providing a high level of service from the Medium and Large Enterprises Service Unit <strong>, we stand<\/strong> by <strong>the Elefsina Shipyards<\/strong> and all businesses in the region&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Panos Xenokostas, Chairman and Managing Director of ONEX Shipyards &amp; Technologies<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>&#8220;We are moving forward with steady steps towards the <strong>regeneration of<\/strong> the <strong>Elefsina<\/strong> <strong>Shipyards<\/strong>. The cooperation with DYPA is the  <strong>best<\/strong> <strong>guarantee<\/strong> for the modernization of the  <strong>Technical Vocational Education<\/strong> and &#8220;<strong>coupling&#8221;<\/strong> with existing and new  the <strong>future needs of the shipbuilding industry<\/strong>. The evolving  <strong>rise of<\/strong> the  <strong>Shipbuilding industry<\/strong> is expected to significantly <strong>boost<\/strong> the <strong>demand<\/strong> for <strong>skilled<\/strong> <strong>workers<\/strong> in technical professions related to shipbuilding. Today, we are partnering with the DYPA to <strong>create new sustainable jobs<\/strong>. But also to <strong>support<\/strong> the necessary <strong>transformation of<\/strong> the <strong>production model<\/strong> at local and national level.
