The new fund <strong>targets<\/strong> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/espa.io\/en\/business_type\/new-business\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">startups<\/a><\/strong> with deep tech <strong>products<\/strong> <strong>\u00abdeep technology\u00bb (deep tech) <\/strong>and <strong>strong intellectual property<\/strong>. As noted in the announcement, the company&#8217;s <strong>first<\/strong> <strong>fund<\/strong> has the <strong>same<\/strong> <strong>focus<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Big Pi II<\/strong> will <strong>invest<\/strong> at the <strong>seed stage<\/strong>. The <strong>amounts<\/strong> will <strong>range<\/strong> from EUR 1 <strong>to 3 million euros<\/strong>, the company said in the announcement.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The portfolio <strong>companies<\/strong> will have <strong>research<\/strong> and <strong>development<\/strong> <strong>teams<\/strong> in <strong>Greece<\/strong> and will <strong>target<\/strong> the <strong>global<\/strong> <strong>market<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Big Pi&#8217;s <strong>first fund<\/strong> <strong>is<\/strong> already a <strong>success<\/strong>, with <strong>companies<\/strong> such as <strong>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/tiledb.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">TileDB<\/a>\n<\/strong>, \u03b7 <strong>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intelligencia.ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Intelligencia<\/a>\n<\/strong> and <strong>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orfium.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Orfium<\/a>\n<\/strong> showing significant growth. In total, <strong>nine<\/strong> <strong>portfolio<\/strong> <strong>companies<\/strong> have already <strong>received<\/strong> <strong>funding<\/strong> from <strong>investors<\/strong> such as <strong>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intel.com\/content\/www\/us\/en\/homepage.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Intel<\/a>\n<\/strong>, \u03b7 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lockheedmartin.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Lockheed<\/strong> <strong>Martin<\/strong><\/a> and the <strong>University of Oxford<\/strong>, while one company has been sold to a large multinational conglomerate.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At  <strong>Big Pi II<\/strong> <strong>key<\/strong> <strong>investor<\/strong> is the <strong>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/hdb.gr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Hellenic Development Investment Bank<\/a>\n<\/strong> (EATE, formerly TANEO) with <strong>funds<\/strong> from <strong>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/greece20.gov.gr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">National Recovery and Resilience Plan &#8220;Greece 2.0&#8221;<\/a>\n<\/strong> through the <strong>&#8220;InnovateNow&#8221;<\/strong> programme.  <strong>They participate<\/strong>, even,  <strong>25 private investors<\/strong>, including,  <strong>banks<\/strong>,  <strong>industry<\/strong> <strong>executives<\/strong> and <strong>founders of<\/strong> <strong>innovative<\/strong> <strong>businesses<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>During the signing of the agreement<\/strong> between EATE and Big Pi Ventures, present were. Mr. Thodoros Skylakakis, Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr. Yannis Tsakiris, Deputy Minister of Development and Investment and Mr. Nikos Mantzoufas, Director of the Special Coordination Service of the Recovery Fund.
