A project funded under the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eetaa.gr\/eu\/programs\/Cosme.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">EU&#8217;s COSME programme<\/a><\/strong>. to <strong>improve their sustainability performance<\/strong>. <strong>From Greece, 43 travel agencies<\/strong> were selected to participate in <strong>SUSTOUR<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>A call for applications for SMEs was published in early March 2022<\/strong>. The aim was <strong>to select at least 175 tour operators and travel agencies.<\/strong> Aim <strong>to benefit from a comprehensive technical support programme<\/strong>, which will help them <strong>improve their sustainability performance.<\/strong> <strong>More than 730 applications were received<\/strong>. After evaluation by an independent committee,  <strong>627 SMEs from 35 countries have been selected and enrolled in the support programme.<\/strong> The technical support program will provide a combination of:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>innovative online trainings<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>multi-day face-to-face training in a classroom<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>intensive guidance (group and individual)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>as well as peer-reviewed teaching \u2013 all provided and led by selected experts in sustainable <a href=\"https:\/\/espa.io\/en\/c\/tourism-en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tourism<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Businesses were given the opportunity <strong>to choose<\/strong> between <strong>receiving support for Travelife certification<\/strong> or support in <strong>improving specific areas,<\/strong> such as managing their coal, plastics and supply chain, or certifying their shore excursions. <strong>Various events will be organised, in conjunction with European trade fairs<\/strong>, to allow selected travel companies to <strong>exchange experiences and best practices,<\/strong> and to reward those companies that achieve certification through the SUSTOUR project.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-naut-kusters-&#x3B4;&#x3B9;&#x3B5;&#x3C5;&#x3B8;&#x3C5;&#x3BD;&#x3C4;&#x3AE;&#x3C2;-&#x3C4;&#x3BF;&#x3C5;-eceat-&#x3BA;&#x3B1;&#x3B9;-&#x3B5;&#x3C0;&#x3B9;&#x3BA;&#x3B5;&#x3C6;&#x3B1;&#x3BB;&#x3AE;&#x3C2;-&#x3C4;&#x3BF;&#x3C5;-&#x3AD;&#x3C1;&#x3B3;&#x3BF;&#x3C5;-sustour\"><strong>Naut Kusters, director of ECEAT and head of the SUSTOUR project<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>&#8220;We are pleased to see so much interest from tour operators and travel agencies across Europe to find out how <strong>to make their business and supply chain more sustainable.<\/strong> We decided to accept <strong>three times more companies<\/strong> in the support program than originally planned for <strong>to allow the maximum possible number of businesses<\/strong> to benefit from the project.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/calendly.com\/randevou-espa-news\/15min?month=2022-03\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>627 tour operators and travel agencies were selected to participate in the SUSTOUR technical support programme.
