These facilities <strong>include research and development laboratories<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In particular, these are the following (EIB financing):<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Facilities of student dormitories of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uoc.gr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">University of Crete<\/a>.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Facilities for student dormitories, educational, research and other infrastructures of the <a href=\"https:\/\/duth.gr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Democritus University of Thrace<\/a>.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Facilities of student dormitories and other educational and research facilities of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uth.gr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">University of Thessaly<\/a>, in Volos and Lamia.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The above projects are <strong>part of a wider network of PPP projects<\/strong> for the multi-faceted <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/espa.io\/en\/c\/education\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">upgrading of Greek University Institutions<\/a><\/strong>, with a total <strong>with a budget of EUR 445 million; euros<\/strong>, which is in progress.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Their implementation is expected to have <strong>many, important and multilevel benefits,<\/strong> both for <strong>local communities<\/strong> and for the <strong>country as a whole<\/strong>. Through them:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Student accommodation is strengthened<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>accessibility to studies is facilitated<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>further upgrades the quality of Universities located outside the major economic and population hubs of Greece<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Regions of Attica and Central Macedonia.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Young people, <strong>modern teaching and learning spaces<\/strong> that will be created, on the one hand will provide <strong>the possibility<\/strong> to students from low-income families to <strong>gain access to higher education<\/strong>,  <strong>significantly reducing the cost of living<\/strong> in these areas, on the other hand, <strong>improve the quality of higher education provided in the Region<\/strong>, increasing employment prospects overall. These are therefore projects that:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>contribute to reducing the over-concentration of population and activities in the two major urban centres;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>strengthen regional development and reduce social inequalities<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>help promote balanced economic, social and spatial development<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The proposal for Financing of projects amounting to 190 million euro through PPPs approved by the European Investment Bank (EIB) for the development of student and other premises for Greek universities.
