Despite significant progress in recent decades, inequalities between men and women in the labour market persist. Women workers in the EU are paid less than men, and in some sectors, such as science and technology, the employment rate of men is much higher than that of women.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-&#x3C3;&#x3C4;&#x3BF;&#x3B9;&#x3C7;&#x3B5;&#x3AF;&#x3B1;-&#x3C0;&#x3BF;&#x3C5;-&#x3C0;&#x3C1;&#x3BF;&#x3B2;&#x3BB;&#x3B7;&#x3BC;&#x3B1;&#x3C4;&#x3AF;&#x3B6;&#x3BF;&#x3C5;&#x3BD;\"><strong>Things that are troubling<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>According to data recently announced by the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.statistics.gr\/european-statistical-system\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">European Statistical Office<\/a><\/strong> (Eurostat), in 2020, women in the EU were paid 15% less than men. In Greece, the available data refer to 2018 and show that the corresponding percentage stood at 10.4%.<\/p>\n\n<p>At the same time, sectors such as technology are still &#8220;male-dominated&#8221;. In 2018 in the EU, 59% of men worked, on average, as scientists and engineers, compared to 41% of women. In Greece, in 2020, only 16.4% of women declared skilled professionals employed <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/espa.io\/en\/c\/information-communications-technologies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in the field of information and technology<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-equals-eu-hackathon-&#x3BF;&#x3B9;-&#x3B3;&#x3C5;&#x3BD;&#x3B1;&#x3AF;&#x3BA;&#x3B5;&#x3C2;-&#x3C3;&#x3C4;&#x3B7;&#x3BD;-&#x3C4;&#x3B5;&#x3C7;&#x3BD;&#x3BF;&#x3BB;&#x3BF;&#x3B3;&#x3AF;&#x3B1;-&#x3BA;&#x3B1;&#x3B9;-&#x3C4;&#x3B7;&#x3BD;-&#x3BA;&#x3B1;&#x3B9;&#x3BD;&#x3BF;&#x3C4;&#x3BF;&#x3BC;&#x3AF;&#x3B1;\"><strong>EQUALS<\/strong>&#8211;<strong>EU<\/strong> <strong>Hackathon: Women in technology and innovation<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>Seeking to highlight and empower the role of <strong>women in entrepreneurship<\/strong> and innovation, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.kmop.gr\/&amp;source=gmail-imap&amp;ust=1649244110000000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3v9YZtISmYoxc3zA4FVFgt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><strong>KMOP &#8211; Centre for Social Action and Innovation<\/strong><\/a> organizes from <strong>Wednesday 4 May <\/strong>to <strong>Friday 6 May 2022<\/strong> the <strong>EQUALS-EU<\/strong> <strong>Hackathon<\/strong> <strong>&#8211; ICT<\/strong> <strong>for<\/strong> <strong>Social<\/strong> <strong>Equality<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>The aim is to single out and support innovative solutions that will help <strong>strengthen the role of women in entrepreneurship, technology and innovation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-&#x3C4;&#x3C1;&#x3B5;&#x3B9;&#x3C2;-&#x3B7;&#x3BC;&#x3AD;&#x3C1;&#x3B5;&#x3C2;-&#x3AD;&#x3BD;&#x3B1;&#x3C2;-&#x3C3;&#x3C4;&#x3CC;&#x3C7;&#x3BF;&#x3C2;\"><strong>Three days, one goal<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>On the first, &#8220;introductory&#8221; day of the <strong>Hackathon<\/strong>, the participants will meet at the KMOP center in N.
