A special action<\/strong> on the part of \n Ministry of Rural Development and Food<\/a>\n<\/strong> could support<\/strong> her installation for agrovoltaics<\/strong> in many areas<\/strong> of the country with greenhouses.<\/strong> This might be from the next issues on the “agenda” of the ministry<\/strong>, as argued by the minister of the Ministry of AAT Christiana Kalogirou. These statements were made at a Conference on Agrovoltaics that took place recently in Athens. As he pointed out it’s about the next big thing.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

“The use of agrovoltaics ensures energy<\/a>, water, land savings, while reducing the carbon footprint<\/strong>.” This was noted, among others, by the president of the HOPE-A Association of Companies, Professor Stergios Logothetidis, speaking at the event held in the context of Agrotica<\/a><\/strong> on the topic:<\/p>\n\n

The world’s only pilot production line<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

The world’s only pilot<\/strong> production line operates<\/strong> in Tagarades, Thessaloniki<\/strong>. The world’s first<\/strong> 3rd<\/sup> generation<\/strong> photovoltaic production plant will soon be installed.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The pilot greenhouse of the Greek company Organic Electronic Technologies<\/strong> (spin out company of the LTFN Laboratory of AUTH), in which hydroponic<\/strong> tomatoes are produced with particularly positive results, is also covered with this type of flexible,<\/strong> translucent and particularly light third generation photovoltaics manufactured in Greece .<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

As explained by Mr. Logothetides, the use of 3rd<\/sup> generation photovoltaics in greenhouses (agro-voltaics):<\/p>\n\n

    \n
  • maximizes the use of space<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • saves energy and water<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • drastically reduces the cost of running the greenhouse<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • increases production<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • reduces carbon footprint and labor costs<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • is an ideal energy self-sufficiency solution in remote or off-grid areas<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

    Crete and Western Macedonia for agrovoltaics<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

    “Crete with the greenhouse facilities it already has can produce in 10 years 4 GW of energy from photovoltaics<\/strong>, while the production of tomatoes with the use of hydroponics<\/strong> can increase up to 5 times and at the same time reduce<\/strong> the use of water three times<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

    Regarding the Western Macedonia<\/strong> which is in the process of delignitization with the use of agrovoltaics<\/strong> can not only solve her energy problem, but also to create many high paying jobs for young farmers\/entrepreneurs<\/strong>, to simultaneously increase its production and exports”, explained the president of HOPE-A Stergios Logothetides.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
