As noted, <strong>the entries recorded a record<\/strong>. A total of <strong>87,578 applications<\/strong> were submitted, of which <strong>40,145 were classified as &#8220;eligible in principle&#8221; and 47,433 as &#8220;runners-up&#8221;<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The number of applications<\/strong> submitted for inclusion in the program is much higher <strong>than in the previous five residential <a href=\"https:\/\/espa.io\/en\/c\/energy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">energy upgrade actions implemented<\/a> in the last decade<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In particular, participation in the previous programs was structured as follows:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Exoikonomo 1 (2011) \u2013 8,102 beneficiaries<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Exoikonomo 2 (2012) \u2013 36.971 beneficiaries<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Exoikonomo 3 (2018) \u2013 37.305 beneficiaries<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Exoikonomo 4 (2019) \u2013 20.975 beneficiaries<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Exoikonomo 5 (2020) \u2013 36.364 beneficiaries<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new program will contribute to:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>in reducing greenhouse gas emissions<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>in limiting energy costs for households<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>in addressing energy poverty<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of the eligible applications, <strong>8,356 (20.8%) come from vulnerable households belonging to the lowest income category.<\/strong> The annual individual and family income amounts to <strong>5,000 and 10,000 euros respectively.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong> ExoEconomy 2021<\/strong> is <strong>the first building energy upgrade programme<\/strong> with a separate budget of \u20ac100 million. euros for vulnerable households.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The budget for vulnerable citizens will increase by 20 million. euros<\/strong>, in a total of 120 million euro.
