{"id":23695,"date":"2023-07-19T12:06:14","date_gmt":"2023-07-19T12:06:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/espa.io\/eu-31-million-greek-programme-to-support-agricultural-products-approved\/"},"modified":"2023-07-19T12:06:15","modified_gmt":"2023-07-19T12:06:15","slug":"eu-31-million-greek-programme-to-support-agricultural-products-approved","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/espa.io\/en\/eu-31-million-greek-programme-to-support-agricultural-products-approved\/","title":{"rendered":"EU: 31 million Greek programme to support agricultural products approved"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/espa.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/e-e-egkrisi-ellinikou-programmatos-31-ekat-gia-ti-stirixi-agrotikon-proionton-1024x684.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p><strong>Greek scheme of EUR 31 million euro to support agricultural products<\/strong>  in the context of the Russian war against Ukraine, the <strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/index_el\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Commission<\/a><\/strong> has <strong>approved<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>The scheme was approved under the Temporary State Aid Framework<\/strong>, which  <strong>adopted by the Commission on 9 March 2023<\/strong> for the <strong>support measures in key sectors to accelerate the green transition and decarbonisation<\/strong>. The new framework modifies and partially extends the temporary crisis framework adopted on 23 March 2022 to allow member states to  <strong>support the economy in the context of the current geopolitical crisis<\/strong>  and amended on 20 July 2022 and 28 October 2022.<\/p>\n\n<p>Under the scheme, the <strong>aid will be granted in the form of direct grants<\/strong>. The measure <strong>is aimed at<\/strong> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/espa.io\/en\/c\/farming-sector\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">producers of various agricultural products<\/a> <\/strong>such as:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>pears<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>crocus<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>tobacco and<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>apiculture products<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>The purpose of the agricultural support measure is to <strong>compensate<\/strong> eligible beneficiaries for part of the additional production costs they have incurred as a result of the <strong>increase in the price of energy and other inputs<\/strong> and to help them <strong>overcome the financial difficulties<\/strong> they are facing as a result of the current crisis.<\/p>\n\n<p>The Commission found that <strong>the Greek scheme is in line with the conditions set out in the Temporary<\/strong> Crisis and Transition <strong>Framework<\/strong>. In particular, the aid:<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>(i) not more than EUR 250 000 per beneficiary; and  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>(ii) will be granted until 31 December 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>The Commission concluded that <strong>the programme is necessary, appropriate and proportionate to remedy a serious disturbance in the economy of a Member State<\/strong> in accordance with Article 107(3)(b) TFEU and the conditions set out in the Temporary Crisis and Transition Framework.
