{"id":23070,"date":"2023-07-12T09:05:32","date_gmt":"2023-07-12T09:05:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/espa.io\/act-entrepreneurship-centre-2-free-programmes-to-train-young-entrepreneurs\/"},"modified":"2023-07-12T09:05:34","modified_gmt":"2023-07-12T09:05:34","slug":"act-entrepreneurship-centre-2-free-programmes-to-train-young-entrepreneurs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/espa.io\/en\/act-entrepreneurship-centre-2-free-programmes-to-train-young-entrepreneurs\/","title":{"rendered":"ACT Entrepreneurship Centre: 2 free programmes to train young entrepreneurs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/espa.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/kentro-epiheirimatikotitas-act-2-dorean-programmata-gi-tin-ekpaideusi-neon-epiheirimation-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p><strong>The Entrepreneurship Center of ACT &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.act.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">The American College of Thessaloniki<\/a><\/strong> is implementing this spring <strong>two free programs for the training of young entrepreneurs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>Specifically, applications for two programs of the <strong>Entrepreneurship Center of ACT &#8211; The American College of Thessaloniki<\/strong> are now closed:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>the &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.venturegarden.gr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">VentureGarden<\/a>&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/espa.io\/en\/business_type\/new-business\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Free Young Entrepreneur Training Programme<\/a> (applications were submitted until 26 March)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>the 10th<a href=\"https:\/\/www.act.edu\/pappajohn-awards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">John and Mary Pappajohn<\/a>Business Ideas Competition offering five prizes of \u20ac4,000 (applications by 2 April)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><strong>VentureGarden is a free business idea accelerator program<\/strong>. <strong>In Thessaloniki it is implemented by ACT, with the support of<\/strong> The Hellenic Initiative (THI) and sponsored by From Scratch, Quantum Business &amp; IT Solutions, and BILLIA SA.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Participation in the programme from the ACT Entrepreneurship Centre<\/strong> <strong>is free of charge and is for people with vision and dedication<\/strong>. The programme helps them <strong>to join the entrepreneurial ecosystem<\/strong> by creating their <strong>own business or developing their existing<\/strong> one. VentureGarden starts with an intensive and <strong>targeted five-week training period<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-&#x3C4;&#x3B1;-&#x3BC;&#x3B1;&#x3B8;&#x3AE;&#x3BC;&#x3B1;&#x3C4;&#x3B1;-&#x3B3;&#x3AF;&#x3BD;&#x3BF;&#x3BD;&#x3C4;&#x3B1;&#x3B9;-&#x3C3;&#x3B5;-&#x3C4;&#x3AC;&#x3BE;&#x3B7;-&#x3BC;&#x3B5;-&#x3C6;&#x3C5;&#x3C3;&#x3B9;&#x3BA;&#x3AE;-&#x3C0;&#x3B1;&#x3C1;&#x3BF;&#x3C5;&#x3C3;&#x3AF;&#x3B1;-&#x3BA;&#x3AC;&#x3B8;&#x3B5;-&#x3B4;&#x3B5;&#x3C5;&#x3C4;&#x3AD;&#x3C1;&#x3B1;-&#x3BA;&#x3B1;&#x3B9;-&#x3C4;&#x3B5;&#x3C4;&#x3AC;&#x3C1;&#x3C4;&#x3B7;-6&#x3BC;-&#x3BC;-9&#x3BC;-&#x3BC;-&#x3B1;&#x3C0;&#x3CC;-&#x3C4;&#x3B9;&#x3C2;-12-4-2023-&#x3AD;&#x3C9;&#x3C2;-17-5-2023-&#x3B5;&#x3BA;&#x3C4;&#x3CC;&#x3C2;-&#x3B1;&#x3C1;&#x3B3;&#x3B9;&#x3CE;&#x3BD;\"><strong>Classes are held in class with physical attendance every Monday and Wednesday from 6pm &#8211; 9pm from 12\/4\/2023 to 5\/17\/2023 (excluding holidays).<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p>The training focuses on understanding all aspects of running a modern business. The aim is for the <strong>business idea to be feasible and sustainable<\/strong>. <strong>Instructors are teachers and entrepreneurs<\/strong>. After completion of the course, <strong>participants who can benefit from mentoring<\/strong> are selected.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Since the launch of the programme<\/strong> in February 2014, <strong>617 people have been selected, out of a total of 1,778 applicants<\/strong>, to attend the 17 previous cycles in Thessaloniki.  <strong>Participants from previous rounds of the programme have received funding<\/strong> to realise their ideas and have created thriving businesses thanks to the support they received from the programme.  <strong>It is estimated that more than 120 new companies, with 350 jobs, have been founded thanks to VentureGarden in Thessaloniki and other cities in Northern Greece.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>The number of places is limited<\/strong> and an evaluation process will follow for the selection of candidates.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-10&#x3BF;&#x3C2;-&#x3B4;&#x3B9;&#x3B1;&#x3B3;&#x3C9;&#x3BD;&#x3B9;&#x3C3;&#x3BC;&#x3CC;&#x3C2;-&#x3B5;&#x3C0;&#x3B9;&#x3C7;&#x3B5;&#x3B9;&#x3C1;&#x3B7;&#x3BC;&#x3B1;&#x3C4;&#x3B9;&#x3BA;&#x3CE;&#x3BD;-&#x3B9;&#x3B4;&#x3B5;&#x3CE;&#x3BD;-john-mary-pappajohn-business-competition\"><strong>10th &#8220;John &amp; John&#8217;s&#8221; Business Ideas Competition Mary Pappajohn Business Competition&#8221;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p><strong>At least one award to an environmental responsibility entrepreneurship project<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>On April 2, 2023, applications<\/strong> for the 10th <strong>John &amp; John<\/strong>&#8216;s Business Ideas Competition <strong>will close<\/strong>. <strong>Mary Pappajohn Business Competition&#8221;<\/strong>. The competition <strong>will award five \u20ac4,000 prizes<\/strong> to each of the five best business plans. The cash prizes are offered by the Greek-born entrepreneur John Pappajohn.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Contestants will be judged on the basis of the idea they submit<\/strong>, as well as their personal entrepreneurial skills. Specifically <strong>the degree of innovation, the ability and readiness to develop the idea, sustainability, knowledge, commitment and entrepreneurial skills of the applicants will be taken into account<\/strong>. Especially  <strong>this year<\/strong>, at least one prize will be given to  <strong>an environmental responsibility entrepreneurship project<\/strong>. That is, a viable project that  <strong>will address an issue relating to the environment<\/strong>  (but not limited to recycling, water resources, particulate air, global warming, soil pollution, etc.).<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-&#x3BF;-&#x3B4;&#x3B9;&#x3B1;&#x3B3;&#x3C9;&#x3BD;&#x3B9;&#x3C3;&#x3BC;&#x3CC;&#x3C2;-&#x3B1;&#x3C0;&#x3CC;-&#x3C4;&#x3BF;-&#x3BA;&#x3AD;&#x3BD;&#x3C4;&#x3C1;&#x3BF;-&#x3B5;&#x3C0;&#x3B9;&#x3C7;&#x3B5;&#x3B9;&#x3C1;&#x3B7;&#x3BC;&#x3B1;&#x3C4;&#x3B9;&#x3BA;&#x3CC;&#x3C4;&#x3B7;&#x3C4;&#x3B1;&#x3C2;-act-&#x3B1;&#x3BD;&#x3B1;&#x3BB;&#x3CD;&#x3B5;&#x3C4;&#x3B1;&#x3B9;-&#x3C3;&#x3B5;-&#x3C4;&#x3C1;&#x3AF;&#x3B1;-&#x3C3;&#x3C4;&#x3AC;&#x3B4;&#x3B9;&#x3B1;\"><strong>The competition by the ACT Entrepreneurship Centre is divided into three stages<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-&#x3C4;&#x3BF;-&#x3C0;&#x3C1;&#x3CE;&#x3C4;&#x3BF;-&#x3C0;&#x3B5;&#x3C1;&#x3B9;&#x3BB;&#x3B1;&#x3BC;&#x3B2;&#x3AC;&#x3BD;&#x3B5;&#x3B9;-&#x3C4;&#x3B7;&#x3BD;-&#x3BA;&#x3B1;&#x3C4;&#x3AC;&#x3B8;&#x3B5;&#x3C3;&#x3B7;-&#x3C4;&#x3C9;&#x3BD;-&#x3B9;&#x3B4;&#x3B5;&#x3CE;&#x3BD;-&#x3BC;&#x3AD;&#x3C7;&#x3C1;&#x3B9;-&#x3C4;&#x3B7;&#x3BD;-&#x3BA;&#x3C5;&#x3C1;&#x3B9;&#x3B1;&#x3BA;&#x3AE;-2-&#x3B1;&#x3C0;&#x3C1;&#x3B9;&#x3BB;&#x3AF;&#x3BF;&#x3C5;-2023-&#x3C3;&#x3C4;&#x3BF;-www-act-edu-pappajohn-awards\"><strong>The first involves submitting ideas by Sunday 2 April 2023 to www.act.edu\/pappajohn-awards.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p>The description of the idea should include:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>the proposed product\/service<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>the target market<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>the revenue model of the proposed idea (revenue model)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>the novelty\/innovation characterising the idea<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>the maturity level of the idea<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Participation in the Pappajohn competition alone is a first-class <strong>opportunity<\/strong> for each contestant <strong>to &#8220;test&#8221; their idea in a competitive environment<\/strong> and to network with institutions and organisations that will help them to further develop their project. Moreover, <strong>success<\/strong> in the competition, apart from the prize money, <strong>serves as a passport for finding partners and investors in Greece and abroad<\/strong> in subsequent stages.<\/p>\n\n<p>At the same time, the Entrepreneurship Center organizes <strong>programs that offer free knowledge in key areas of business reality<\/strong>.
