Theti Club: the first Angel Investors Club in Greece

Share

The Hellenic Tech Investor Club (Theti Club) is the the first Business Angel Club in Greece, which focuses exclusively on high-techstartups. The Club is based in the center of Athens and its purpose is to develop the activity of the Business Angels, making them an institution of entrepreneurship.

In Europe's developed technology ecosystems, start-up companies seeking early stage growth capital secure 60% of their funding from private investors ( angel investors ) and less than 35% from venture capital firms ( Venture Capital Firms ).

In Greece, as stated in the announcement, the immaturity of the ecosystem to understand the importance of private investors in the financing of high-risk technology companies has led to a lack of early-stage funding, resulting in less than 10% of the capital invested annually is contributed by private individuals with most of this coming from other sources.

With an investment goal of funding 10-15 new companies per year, Theti Club aims to change the way Greek startup companies secure funding and help them conquer international markets. In practice, as stated, through the Club, Business Angels are given the opportunity to invest in startup companies that are revolutionizing through their technologies or innovative business models in old and new markets. Through the Club, smart money is provided, with experienced investors providing expertise, recommendations and natural growth capital.

Investment strategy

Indicatively, the investment strategy developed by the Theti Club team includes:

  • Targeting pre-seed/seed funding rounds to companies with minimum and maximum capital needs from 50,000 euros to 1 million euros. euros respectively.
  • The business model should be based on innovative technological solutions and through them create a decisive competitive advantage over the competition.
  • Candidate companies must be based in Greece and have a significant economic footprint in the country.
  • Finally, a prerequisite for securing investment is that the startup must be able to "open" international markets after funding.

Indicative target areas of Theti Club

The Hellenic Tech Investor Club is a closed club, with a maximum of 75 investors. Indicatively, the Club has managed to attract some of the best and most active investors from Greece, Northern Europe and the Middle East.

A prerequisite for a new investor to join the club as a member is to have experience either as an entrepreneur, senior company executive, board member, or founder of a technology start-up.

The existence of THETI CLUB aspires to be a catalyst for the further development of an already rapidly growing technological ecosystem in Greece.
