Share

In April the platform for the submission of applications for the new programme of the Ministry of Environment and Energy (YPEN) Photovoltaics on the Roof.

The beneficiaries of the programme are households and farmers who will be able to install their own small photovoltaic system, combined with a storage system (battery).

The total budget of the Roof Photovoltaics programme is €200 million. The subsidy of the photovoltaic system reaches up to 75% for households and 60% for farmers. The total subsidy of the photovoltaic system with battery can reach up to €16,000 for households and €10,000 for farmers.

Beneficiaries of the scheme will be able to see in their accounts electricity bills savings of up to 3,000 euros per year.

Special care is taken for vulnerable households with €35 million being earmarked exclusively for them. There is also a special 10% bonus for people with disabilities, single-parent and large families.

The programme guide was pre-published on Thursday 23 March on the website: https://ypen.gov.gr/fotovoltaika-sti-stegi/.

Features of the Photovoltaics on the Roof Project

The basic requirement for submitting an application is that the applicant must have already concluded a Connection Agreement with the DEDDIE but the photovoltaic station has not been connected.

Each natural person may submit only one application, for a single dwelling - primary or secondary - which has an active domestic electricity supply. Farmers can submit one application for their residence and only one application for the supply of electricity for agricultural use.

The photovoltaic station can be placed on the roof or the roof of a building (which includes roofs, terraces, facades, shades and pergolas), in ancillary areas of the building or agricultural land (e.g. warehouses and parking spaces), or on the ground.

The total budget of the programme, 200 million. euros, from the resources of the Recovery and Resilience Fund, is divided into four categories:

1. Exclusively for vulnerable households: €35 million. euro.
2. Exclusively for citizens with individual income <= 20,000€ or family income <= 40,000€: 85 million. euro.
3. Exclusively for citizens with individual income > 20,000€ or family income > 40,000€: 50 million. euro.
4. Exclusively for professional or special scheme farmers: €30 million. euro.

The Programme will remain "open" until the available funds per category are exhausted.

The aim of the programme is to cover up to the full cost of the battery and the development and installation costs of the photovoltaic. For the first two categories, the battery subsidy is 100%, while for the third and fourth categories it is 90%.

Households will be required to install a photovoltaic station with a battery, while farmers are given the option to choose to install a photovoltaic station with or without a battery.

The maximum installed capacity of the photovoltaic plant to be subsidised is set at 10.8kW. Similarly, as regards the battery, the maximum subsidy is set at 10,8kWh.

The battery should be able to deliver at least one hour of the power of the RES station.

Maximum subsidy amounts

As noted, the submission of applications will be fast, without hassle and complicated bureaucracy, through the electronic platform of the DEDDIE and the use of TAXISNET codes.

The pre-publication will remain posted until Wednesday 29 March 2023.
